Why circular? The plastic soup is a widely recognized and major problem. We therefore believe it is our duty to make a contribution and to tackle the plastic problem together. We do this by using as little plastic as possible and by recycling PET bottles and making new products from them.
How do we make a difference? We follow the “3Rs”: Reducing waste, Reusing products and Recycling material. These represent the options which should be considered first when trying to reduce our organisations environmental footprint.
How does the Circular circle of BakkerElkhuizen work?
1. Plastic bottles are being collected from different sources and are sent to a processing organisation. 2. The plastic bottles are processed into 'flakes' to be processed again into 'granulate'. 3. Granulate is processed in to PET felt sheets. 4. PET felt sheets are manufactured into BakkerElkhuizen products. 5. Our circular products can be handed back to us to be recycled again.
Characteristics of PET felt Pricing The recommended retail price of our circular products is exactly the same as the comparable products in our acrylic line!
Recycled material Depending on the color, about 60% of the material used in the circular products comes from recycled material. However, the newly made product is 100% recyclable, even the screws!
Soft, yet strong! Although the material appears soft, no compromises have been made for the required properties such as load-bearing capacity. These products are also very strong, just like acrylic!
Colours These products are available in different colors. We have light grey and green in our range as standard. We are happy to get in touch with you for other colors.
