Elger’s greatest skill is the ability to capture an entire story in one still image of one ephemeral instant of time’

Some time ago I heard a well-known artist say that painting was like learning to walk. At first you crawl and hold on to whatever you can reach, you lose your balance and fall, you pull up and then finally you stand. Slowly but surely you walk and then, one day, you run. Aragundi is running. He’s a painter and photographer running on his passion for life, and we are invited along for the adventure. His latest work, Blacks, is the result of running though creative pathways of all types. You will find a collection of his work that reflects static and moving silhouettes pulling us in with the seductive and intimate gazes Aragundi surely collected on his busy and bustling run through multiple artistic spaces. His highly texturized pieces, as rough as the brushes and spatulas are themselves, invite us to dream about the interior world of his characters. Elger’s greatest skill is the ability to capture an entire story in one still image of one ephemeral instant of time. And in the end, his irreverent eye decided to whack us with a shot of light amidst the somber pallet. His ultimate victory is forcing us to grapple with the darkness.
