President’s

Message by Patrick Mahoney It’s a blustery day in the neighborhood. This year’s wind events have been extreme to say the least. Watching the trees sway, you can almost anticipate their tumble. The aftermath takes on an eerie feel – downed trees and debris – not to mention lawn furniture – lying about. What a mess!

The City of Anaheim has been working hard to clean things up – tree care crews have been working throughout our Peralta Hills area. Some of the majestic Eucalyptus trees are getting a much needed pruning, and others are being removed and headed for a new purpose – warming us in the fireplace!

As we continue the celebration of our holiday seasons – from Thanksgiving to Chanukah and from Christmas to ringing in the New Year it’s a great time to reflect on our blessings. To give thanks and reach out to people who have made a difference in our daily grind. On the top of my list this year would be Tom & Eileen Miller. As hosts of this year’s neighborhood Gala, the Millers opened their home to over 150 people, and raised over $30,000 to keep up the great improvements around the PHEIA community.

It was a fun evening with a great purpose. Jolynn and I look forward to it each year & always come away thankful for the friends & neighbors here in PH. Our landscape improvement projects are continuing along Santa Ana Canyon Road. Yes, things continue to look up in the PHEIA area.

Unfortunately along with the hustle and bustle of the season comes the opportunity for some unsavory activity as well. There have been two breakins over the last few months in Peralta Hills. Holiday times seem to invite mischief, so be sure to lock your homes. Don’t hesitate to report suspicious behavior. We have a great relationship and partnership with Anaheim’s finest. They will do their best to make sure we are protected!

It’s not only the Police Department in Anaheim that is watching out for us - the Streets Department has been quite busy with paving projects along our streets as well. Our thanks to the city for paving two sections of road in Peralta – with the rainy season right around the corner – the extra traction will be a lifesaver. CalTrans is getting busy as well as the improvements on the 91 Freeway continue. It never fails that along with the improvements comes intermittent inconveniences of lane and road closures. I found a link on the internet to keep us all informed (http://www. octa.net/pdf/91alert110211.pdf). Keep it handy to help keep headaches to a minimum.

So here we are at the end of 2011 - Jolynn & I are super excited for the upcoming Christmas season at our house. New grand babies- Talitha June Pendleton and Frank Patrick Dominguez are both celebrating their first Christmases this year. We can’t wait to see what Santa leaves under the tree for them. Regardless of how you celebrate this season, be it Chanukah, Christmas or Kwanzaa, our wish for you is health, happiness & a prosperous new year. Look forward to seeing you soon around the neighborhood.

Historic Home in PH

431 Peralta Hills Drive

Bill and Shirley Boezinger’s home has been designated a Historically Significant Structure by the City of Anaheim and is the last remaining original home in Peralta Hills. The City has designated only nine other historically significant homes which qualify for the State of California Mills Act. The property was purchased from the George H. Bixby Development Company by Elsa and Reinhold Schellens in May 1919. The home was completed in 1921 and covered 8.01 acres. Bill and Shirley purchased the property in 1967 and are the seventh owners. This was their first home.

Bill & Shirley Boezinger Over the years, the eight acres were subdivided but the old house survived and was well cared for. Bill and Shirley bought the home completely furnished and just simply moved in. The decor was a bit dated but very usable. Throughout the years, the home has been redecorated with period furnishings and fixtures. The back yard was reconfigured to accommodate a large barn and play space for the three children and now six grandchildren. The oil fired heating system has been replaced with gas, the original oak floors refinished (but have never been sanded), the windows are original, and the orange trees were replaced. Also, the 1929 McCormick-Deering track tractor still resides in the barn.

• Beautification- we are working with the city FINANCIAL OVERVIEW to get permits to construct the entrance of the strawberry field so that it looks similar July 1, 2011 thru November 30, 2011 to the other ones in the neighborhood.

We will begin to plant the 300 orange trees between Royal Oak and Lakeview.

INCOME EXPENSES The plantings on the corner of Santa Ana Canyon and Cerro Vista need a little cutting back to allow drivers to see traffic. Still in Dues 2011-2012 $ 24,650.00 Beautification $ the works is an encroachment permit for Lakeview and Cerro Vista.

• 2011 Gala- the board would like more residents to attend the event. The total amount raised was $45,299 with expenses totaling $14,080.91. The total number of attendees was 76 residents and 80 guests.

A wrap up date needs to be decided for the gala. We all agreed it was a complete success.

• Talks of a Teenage Club are in the works.

Holiday Safety Tips for your Home

The Holidays are upon us and with them come the increased risk of being burglarized.

According to the Washington Post robberies increase by 30% during the Christmas season. In the current economy thieves are becoming bolder and more daring making every home vulnerable. Based on recent events, it appears that the residences of Peralta Hills are not immune from this. According to FBI statistics the majority of home robberies happen during the day (when most people are at work) and are not the result of a forced entry. This has been the case several times in our own neighborhood. Prevention is still the best weapon.

Below are some tips that were recently shared with me from a security expert: 1. Make sure your alarm system works: A security alarm cannot help if it is not working. Many of us get so busy we forget to turn our alarms on when we leave. Test your system and confirm your security company is actively monitoring it. Also, do you have a battery back-up if your power goes out?

2. Trick Burglars: The reason thieves rob during the day is they do not want to deal with home owners. The odds are better that you will be gone. Make them think you are home. Leave a T.V. or light on. Don’t leave a note for deliveries that you are gone. (I have actually seen this on some homes.)

3. Secure Sliding Doors and Windows: Even if locked, many sliding doors/windows can be manipulated to be opened. Put a bar in the tract so they cannot be moved.

4. Secure Your Yard: Many of the homes in Peralta Hills are gated. Make sure you close the gate when you leave.

Consider putting low voltage lights (or motion detection lights) by windows and doors.

5. Inform Neighbors: If you are going to be gone for an extended time period, inform your neighbors. Let neighbors know if anyone will be on your property. Also, give them your contact information so they can call and confirm any suspicious activity.

6. Do Not Post It: Technology can help protect us but it can also help the bad guys. There are programs that thieves use to search Facebook, and other social media outlets, to find people that have posted they are on a trip.

“On the beach in Mexico”, “Fresh powder on the slopes”, “Going home for the Holidays” all advertise an empty house. Wait to you get back to post your travel pictures.

7. Lock It Up: Sounds silly but many of us have become complacent in our quiet neighborhood. Burglars do not want to draw attention to themselves. A locked door or window requires more effort, noise and time. (Unfortunately, we have been guilty of this. Bob’s car was broken into last year and his wallet stolen. He had not locked the door.)

The Holidays are stressful enough and are meant to be a time to enjoy family and friends- not fill out police reports and insurance claims. A little prevention can help make it a happy and safe season.

Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal share honours in the 2011 ATP World Tour Awards, which were announced in London.

Djokovic receives the year-end ATP World Tour No. 1 award for the first time following a banner year in which he won three Grand Slam titles & a record five ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles.

Federer edged out his competitors in two award categories, respectively selected by fans & ATP World Tour players. The 30-yearold Swiss extended his reign as the ATPWorldTour.com Fans’ Favorite to a ninth straight year, and won the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for a seventh time in eight years. Since 2003, Federer has now

won 22 ATP World Tour Awards.

Nadal was selected as the recipient of the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award for his charitable efforts with the Rafa Nadal Foundation, which provides opportunities for socially disadvantaged youth. The Foundation, a recipient of a 2011 ATP ACES For Charity grant, offers educational programs for socially disadvantaged youth using sport as a tool for personal and social integration.

A Better Year for Health Insurance

The bad news is health care costs are going to increase again in 2012. The good news is most analysts believe the increase will be less than the last few years. Mercer (a leading human resource consulting firm) is predicting that health care costs will increase between 5.7 and 8% - the lowest in years.

The reduction in health care cost increases are due to several reasons. First, most health insurance carriers adjusted rates in 2011 to adjust for health care reform. Second, the next major Healthcare Reform cost impact does not take place until 2014. Third, the economy has had its effect on healthcare. Many employers and individuals have chosen to implement higher deductibles. With patients having to fund more of their health care costs they are seeking less healthcare (the effect of this is yet to be seen).

For employers, 2012 will be a year for strategic planning. While the fate of Obama Care is yet to be decided the trend of High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) seems to be here to stay. Employers should use 2012 to start exploring/implementing long term strategies such as: • HRA Plans – HDHP’s that allow the employer/employee to fund some of the up-front outof-pocket costs.

• Supplemental GAP plans – A lower costs supplemental health insurance policy that shares some of the increased out-of-pocket costs.

• Review Contributions- According to The Kaiser Foundation, 51% of employers expect to increase employee contributions in 2012.

• Self-funding – Healthcare reform has stimulated the interest in self-funding as a benefit delivery option. Insurance carriers are introducing new plans that make selffunding viable for employers 75 or more employees.

• Wellness – Incentives for employees to participate in preventative wellness programs will continue to expand.

In addition, most health plans will have more plan options to consider this year. In other words, there will be more competition. For the first time, in a long time, employers have an opportunity to be proactive. For the past five, or more, years health plans have been forced to react to double digit rate increases with few alternatives.

2012 will be a year that most plans will have a chance to be in more control of their renewal options.

Pho restaurants dot the local landscape, most are nondescript and unmemorable. However, Pho 2012 Bistro brings more to the pho experience. It is the perfect combination of excellent food, modest prices, and a relaxing atmosphere.

Pho 2012 Bistro offers an assortment of appetizers from dumplings, wontons, salt squid (calamari), and oversized spring rolls. Egg rolls are truly addictive, wrapped in oversize lettuce leaves, topped with shredded carrots, and dipped in fish sauce; they are the perfect combination of hearty and refreshing. Entrees, served as generous portions are more like those found in fine dining restaurants than pho cafés. Salmon is perfectly cooked; clay pots come with a heaping amount of fresh vegetables, fish, meat, or tofu, with just the right amount of rice creating a delightful socorro on the bottom.

Owners Jenny & Hoang Tran The food at Pho 2012 Bistro is honest. The flavors are a result of not only the with Chef Tho Lam freshness of ingredients, but chef mastery. Sauces are served on the side. No dish is smothered in sauce. As a result, all of the natural ingredients and freshness of the food is evident. Some of the best dishes are noodles. Pan fried noodles are the perfect combination of textures and flavors, and make you feel you are truly in Vietnam.

The Pho is also extraordinary. So often watery, the Pho has an added depth and richness, and is truly exquisite. Another good dish, wonton soup, consists of oversized chicken wontons in a deeply rich broth. It is perfect for a winter’s day. Pho 2012 Bistro also offers an assortment of hard to find Banh Mi sandwiches grilled pork, beef, chicken and Vietnamese beef stew. The atmosphere is delightful. The décor is subdued with calming earth tones. Soft jazz plays in the background. The restaurant offers an assortment of beers. They do not serve wine, but customers are invited to bring their own (corkage fee $5). Take out and party trays are available.

• When purchasing an artificial tree, look for the label “Fire Resistant.”

• When purchasing a live tree, check for freshness. A fresh tree is green, needles are hard to pull from branches and when bent between your fingers, needles do not break. The trunk butt of a fresh tree is sticky with resin, and when tapped on the ground, the tree should not lose many needles.

• When setting up a tree at home, place it away from fireplaces, radiators or portable heaters. Place the tree out of the way of traffic and do not block doorways. Cut a few inches off the trunk of your tree to expose the fresh wood. This allows for better water absorption and will help keep your tree from drying out and becoming a fire hazard. Be sure to keep the stand filled with water, because heated rooms can dry live trees out rapidly.

Christmas Lights Safety

• Check all tree lights, even if you’ve just purchased them, before hanging them on your tree. Make sure all the bulbs work and that there are no frayed wires, broken sockets or loose connections.

• Never use electric lights on a metallic tree. The tree can become charged with electricity from faulty lights, and a person touching a branch could be electrocuted.

• Before using lights outdoors, check labels to be sure they have been certified for outdoor use. To hold lights in place, string them through hooks or insulated staples, not nails or tacks. Never pull or tug lights to remove them. Plug all outdoor electric decorations into circuits with ground fault circuit interrupters to avoid potential shocks.

• Turn off all lights when you go to bed or leave the house. The lights could short out and start a fire.

•Fluffy Hot Chocolate•

Ingredients: 8 teaspoons sugar 4 teaspoons baking cocoa 4 cups milk 1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions: In a saucepan, combine the first four ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat until the marshmallows are melted, about 8 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla.

Ladle into mugs.

Peralta Hills Kids Club

The Peralta Hills Kid’s club has started its second year. Last year was a big success. So far, it has been great this year too! We had an awesome second Halloween carnival and Christmas caroling.

The Halloween carnival had many of the same games as last year, but also many different additions too! There were new carnival games including many that Steve Kitsigianis made. And this year, instead of balloon animals, there was a face painter and a caricaturist, who drew fun caricatures of people. The activities this year were a jigsaw puzzle/scavenger hunt and a Halloween pumpkin hunt. There were many great prizes, making it an awesome carnival.

Thanks to Raza Kitsigianis for planning the event and to everyone who helped.

Recently, we went Christmas caroling for the Peralta Hills Book Club at Richard and Martha Mahoney’s house. We sang four songs: “Jingle Bells”, “Rudolph the RedNose Reindeer”, “Silent Night”, and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” It was tons of fun.

Alana Lee Hamilton Alana Lee and the Hamilton family moved to Peralta Hills when she was just six years old. Now at age fourteen, Alana is a successful actress and musical talent. Alana first got interested in performing while on a vacation cruise ship when she was just 4 years old. She performed in the ship talent show and enjoyed it so much that she knew one day she would be a performer. She had her first walk on part in a television comedy “According to Jim” in February 2007. Later that year, Alana was signed by a well known Hollywood talent company, The Savage Agency, and started taking acting and vocal classes. She has appeared in a number of short films, a feature length film called “The Measure of a Man”, commercials and most recently, Alana starred in a public service announcement advertisement for the National Ad Council promoting kids staying in school.

While Alana Lee loves acting, she prefers singing as it allows her to be more expressive. She recorded her first hit song and professional video, “Butterflies” in the summer of 2010 and her music video on YouTube has received almost 12 million hits to date! She followed “Butterflies” with another hit, “Synchronize” that was recently released. Both songs were nominated for Hollywood Music in Media Awards, “Synchronize” for best song and “Butterflies” was nominated for best music video. Alana has been featured in the OC Weekly, The Daily Beast, Perez Hilton, Times, OCRegister.com, PopBlitz Magazine,

and starcasm.net. She was also recently featured as an Orange County Icon on KCET and also interviewed with Ed Arnold on a KOCE show called “Real Orange”. She has been compared to Taylor Swift and is currently working with Indie label, 37 records, and is in post-production with her third song, “This Is Me”. She will begin recording her fourth song, “Drive Me” in the next couple of weeks. She has a uniquely beautiful voice and her videos can be viewed on her YouTube channel www.youtube. com/alanalee21. When not recording, modeling or acting, Alana Lee finds time to represent the Freshman class at Canyon High in the ASB, student council. She is a straight A student and enjoys everything about High School.

She is also an adoring Aunt to her one year old nephew, Stevie.

Even though Alana has found great success at such a young age, she remains a very grounded young lady with a variety of teenage activities, interests, and friends.

She is quick to credit her parents, Len and Robin, for their part in her success and is clearly appreciative of their support.

Keep an eye on Peralta Hills’ Alana Lee as she will surely be appearing at the American Music Awards and at the Grammy Awards in the very near future!!

Peralta Hills Wine Club

The Peralta Hills Wine Club continued to grow in 2011 with an average of sixty in attendance at each of the five wine tastings held during the year.

In March, Pat Mahoney and Jolynn Benn hosted a wine tasting party highlighting Amici cellars. About 180 friends and neighbors were in attendance at this spectacular event at The Lost World estate.

In May, Fred and Laleh Graylee hosted an Italian wine tasting in their picturesque back yard. It was a beautiful afternoon and a lot was learned about wines from Italy.

Mel and Margie opened their beautiful new estate for an elegant wine tasting in June that featured wines of California. Some magnificent wines were brought to the tasting and it was further proved that California produces some of the best wines in the world. Continued on page 7

PH Book Club Christmas Party

The book club members had a fabulous party at the residence of Richard and Martha Mahoney whose home was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The food, the gift exchange, games, prizes, and the surprise visit of the Peralta Hills Kids Club carolers added to a spectacular evening.

Special thanks to Richard for bartending and to Martha, our gracious hostess.

And last but not least, our thanks to Kelly, their talented daughter who is home for the holidays from New York, for helping mom out as well.

Peralta Hills Kids in the Spotlight

Greetings to all...My name is Francisca Klos and I am to be one of your newest contributors to the Gazette...(I said yes to Sonia in a weak moment, so you are stuck with me for the time being). In the past I have shared some of my boys’ successes and memories of life growing up in Peralta Hills so I thought one thing I could do for the Gazette is help you share the good news about your children’s accomplishments too. So if you have something noteworthy to share, let me know by emialing me at angelklos@sbcglobal.net, and I will try to do the news justice.

Noteworthy for now is that when I recently attended a ceremony at Canyon High celebrating the “President’s Education Awards Program” I noticed that just about all the freshmen students I knew of in Peralta Hills were recognized. This says a lot about our children in this community, as well as, you, their support systems. I’m sure if I were at the sophomore, junior, and senior ceremonies, or an event for Mater Dei, Orange Lutheran, Servite, Villa Park, Rosary, Connelly, Nohl Canyon, Crescent, El Rancho, Cerro Villa, or one of the many other Private Schools in the area our Peralta Hills children attend, the outcome would be the same.

We have great kids don’t we? So don’t be shy about sharing what is happening in their world...Get the word out on plays, concerts, or sports events they’ve had successes in, or community causes they are involved in. This uplifts us all and provides us with resources for sharing how to get involved with something if some one’s child is showing an interest.

It is definitely a different world today than when I grew up. Times were much simpler then. The world did not move so fast and it seemed to be a safer place. My son is now attending Canyon and it got me to thinking back to my own time at the school and growing up here. At that time Santa Ana Canyon Road and Imperial Highway were only two lanes, the Von’s Crossroads Center did not exist, and for us Knowlwood was the primary source for anything that resembled “fast food”. (Oh, and it was not the restaurant that exists today; it was just a shack, with picnic tables.) Also, we did not need portfolios to get into college, and there was definitely little traffic to worry about when we went for a walk, rode our bikes, or horses with our friends. We all seemed to know all the other kids in the neighborhood even if we didn’t “really” know them. It really was a unique place to grow up. Which leads me to a special thanks to our “Kids’ Club“ organizers for getting our children together to make their own memories today. If you have children and haven’t attended an event, try to make one. And if you think your “kids” are too old for the event, they make wonderful helpers. It is good times for all!

Peralta Hills is still a wonderful, and special place to grow up. We see this in our children’s accomplishments and the causes and other things they are involved in. Now, as a parent take a moment to share those things so I can get the word out, for it will give us all hope for the well being of our future.

Larry and Bonnie Bann hosted a South American wine tasting in July on their beautiful, newly re-landscaped grounds.

I think everyone was surprised to find so many great wines from Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.

Mary and Richard Cramer hosted a beautiful wine tasting at their hide-away estate in October. California wines and a bountiful Mexican buffet were enjoyed by those in attendance.

I am now planning the wine tasting events for 2012. If you are interested in hosting a wine tasting at your home, please let me know as soon as possible. PERALTA HILLS BEAUTIFICATION AWARDS

The Peralta Hills Beautification Committee met recently to nominate new Beautification Award recipients.

The basic criteria for the award is that the property shows pride of ownership, outstanding curb appeal, extraordinary landscaping and gardens or recent improvements that have increased the beauty of the property. Nominations take place in January, April, July and October.

The homeowners that receive this honor will be featured in an article in the Peralta Hills Gazette and will have a Peralta Hills Beautification Award sign displayed in their yard for approximately three months.

Judy Joss Martha Mahoney

In every community, you come across Housewives who excel in everything they do. They are loving and dedicated wives, supermoms, outstanding professionals, and role models.

Judy Joss has been a resident of Peralta Hills for almost 13 years and a resident of Anaheim Hills for 23 years. She lives on Chrisalta Way with her husband, David Joss, and 19-year-old son, Dylan, and 16-year-old daughter, Julianna.

Judy grew up on Okinawa when it was still a U. S. Territory and went to Kubasaki High School, a Department of Defense Overseas Dependent High School. Judy left Okinawa to attend Princeton University, then transferred to the University of California, Berkeley where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Oriental Languages in 1977.

Judy graduated from Harvard Law School in 1981 and started her legal career, as a real estate attorney, at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter, and Hampton in downtown Los Angeles. Judy also worked for Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker in Santa Monica and McDermott, Will & Emery in Newport Beach. Since 1992, Judy has been a self-employed real estate transactional attorney, working out of her home office.

Judy enjoys taking Pilates, ballet, and tap classes and does volunteer work for the Classical and Contemporary Dance Conservatory at the Orange County High School of the Arts in Santa Ana, where her daughter, Julianna, is a ballet dancer.

Judy’s husband, David, a physician, has his own family medical practice in Anaheim Hills in the Automobile Association of America building on Santa Ana Canyon Road. David does 100% of the gardening and yard maintenance at their Peralta Hills home and enjoys working outside every day.

Born and raised in Donna, Texas – deep in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley, Martha Mahoney is the quintessential ranch style homemaker who knows all about southern hospitality with a hint of Tex-Mex flair. Besides a mean BBQ and some incredible carne asada dishes served up with her trademark homemade salsa made from fresh tomatoes, herbs, and chili peppers from her very own garden, Mrs. Mahoney can also bake! “The kids especially love my Tres Leches Cake,” says Martha.

Martha is a devoted wife and mother of five wonderful children: Kelly (26) who resides in New York City and is enjoying a career in the film industry, Kathleen (25) who works for a non-profit agency that helps troubled teens, Megan (21) a college senior working towards a degree in computer science, Danny (20) who is also away at college and Thomas (17) who attends Canyon Hills School in Anaheim.

Since moving to Peralta Hills in 2004, Martha and her husband, Richard, have been very gracious hosts as they love to entertain friends and family as often as possible. Their home has been the site for many memorable events including the 2008 Peralta Hills Homeowner’s Gala and this year’s Peralta Hills Book Club Annual Christmas Party.

Robin Duncan

Laleh Graylee is a software engineer and business analyst with over 22 years of experience in development, implementation and management of business information systems & decision sciences.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering from California State University, Dominguez Hills and an MBA degree from Pepperdine University, Graziadio School of Business and Management, Executive Programs.

Laleh started her career as a Systems Analyst at Cal State Fullerton in 1988.

In 1994 she was hired by the California State University, Headquarters in Long Beach and for ten years held multiple positions as a Systems Analyst, Manager of Corporate Information Systems and Director of System-wide Financial Systems, Standards and Reporting, responsible for collection of corporate data from all 23 California State Universities, data warehouse operations and systems management. In her current position, she is the Director of Analytics and Decision Support at California State University, Fullerton.

Laleh has been married to Fred Graylee for twenty years, a professional Civil Engineer and Principal/ Partner at Hunsaker & Associates, a Civil Engineering firm in Irvine. They have two wonderful children, Ryan (13) and Kameron (12). The family enjoys spending time with friends, traveling and outdoor activities including biking, skiing and spending time at their mountain cabin in Big Bear.

Robin Duncan is an International Teacher for Advancement in Spirituality based on the principles of A Course in Miracles and NGH National Instructor for Hypnotherapy, Regression, Guided Imagery, EFT, Life Coaching and Sound Therapy.

As founder of the Miracle Center of California, Robin has helped thousands of people to release fear-based thinking, reclaim spiritual power and learn how to expect miracles as part of daily living. She is gifted Teacher and Spiritual Mentor and lives her life according to her teachings. Through her heart-centered mentoring and practical “how-to” examples, Robin is known for helping people to feel safe, loved and empowered to let go of what is hurting or holding them back. After 22 years in Executive Financial Management, Robin left her CFO position and made a full transition into Advancement in Spirituality and instructing Practitioners on Holistic Health. In her finance career, she held positions as CFO and CPA for Boston West, LLC (Boston Chicken in Southern California), Director of Finance and Internal Audit for Carl Karcher Enterprises (Carl’s Jr. Restaurants), along with Management and Sr. Staff positions with Deloitte & Touche, LLP and KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP. Robin and her husband, Terry Masci, have six children, six grandchildren and one on the way! They are excited to launch their newest venture The IAMDirectory.com, The Global Directory for Alternative Healthcare, by January 2012.

The La Rocks have been Ducks fans since the beginning in 1993 when there were rumors of the hockey team coming to Anaheim. They have been season seat holders for many years and are true fans. As the holidays approached in 2009, it was only natural for the family to make Christmas decorations involving the Ducks. The process involved tracing figures onto plywood sheets and then cutting the players out with a jigsaw.

From there, was a light sanding and then hours upon hours of painting. That work yielded a 3 vs. 3 game with one net and a scoreboard.

When November 2010 rolled around, they decided to step it up and make it a full game. They repeated the tracing, cutting, and painting process and two weeks later had 5 vs. 5 with two goalies, two nets, and two player benches with advertisements and coaches. With white

plastic sheets put down for the ice effect, the game took shape.

Dale and Linda La Rock moved to Peralta Hills in 1996 with their daughters Laura and Christine, who is married to Dan. Dale and Linda are avid tennis players and world class travelers. They very recently toured Australia where one of the highlights of their trip was watching Federer play at the 2011 Australian Open. The Christmas Ducks Pond is a testimony to their love for hockey and especially the Anaheim Ducks.
