"Historically, the borough has had numerous successful amateur Rugby League clubs and I rightfully believed the town deserved a platform to encourage players aged 35+ the opportunity to get back playing and supporting grassroots clubs whilst having fun and making great memories on and off the field. "With the full support of the committee at Rochdale Mayfield I formed Rochdale Masters' - a club that allows players of all past and present clubs the opportunity to come together and represent the town of Rochdale in the greatest game of all.

"The Masters concept has really taken off in Rochdale, we are averaging between 25-30 players of all ages (and even have players in their 70's), physiques and abilities at our weekly sessions. Weekly "training" is conducted at the home of Rochdale Mayfield ARLFC, bringing individuals back together in a familiar environment whilst establishing a habit of regular physical activity and a fantastic opportunity to catch up and reminisce about the old days." The club is sponsored and supported by BRAND X, The Stephen Gartland Foundation, Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation, Jolly Josh, OnePT, Direct Flooring & Beds and Health 'e' Hut.

Carl said: "The support that local businesses and groups have given the club since forming is massively appreciated by everyone involved and the players are grateful for all the kit and equipment that we’ve been able to purchase through their generosity."

Local charities The Stephen Gartland Foundation, Jolly Josh and Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation have been chosen as the club’s nominated charities. All monies raised throughout the season will be equally split and donated to these worthy causes.
