Springhill Hospice: What's On at Christmas

The last 18 months have been very challenging for everyone to say the least. Here at Springhill we are looking forward to the festive period where we can add some fun and exciting events to help people celebrate and get into the Christmas spirit once again.

LIGHT UP A LIFE will be returning as a virtual event launching on Saturday 4th December. The virtual service gives you the opportunity to remember your loved ones and dedicate a light in their memory. All dedications will be available to see in our virtual Book of Lights which will be available through our website. This years’ virtual service will include music readings and poems for you to reflect, remember and celebrate the memories of your loved ones. The service will be streamed on our website and social media pages at 6pm and will remain available throughout December for you to watch at a time that is meaningful to you.

On Friday 10th December you can take part in our annual WEAR YOUR WOOLLIES DAY. Get your best Christmas jumper/ cardigan/socks/hats at the ready! Get your colleagues, friends and family involved and help raise money for Springhill Hospice. All we ask is a donation of £2 per adult and £1 per child and the rest is up to you! Why not make a day of it and have a best dressed competition, a Christmas bake off or even a festive quiz!

Our annual SANTA DASH is back! This year we have a new location, Queen’s Park, Rochdale. Join us on Sunday 12th December - grab your Santa suit and get jogging, walking or sprinting around Queen’s Park with our 2km or 4km route. We can’t wait to see you all dash-ing around!

To start off the New Year, our CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION service will return. After the success of the collection back in January we will be taking to the road again to collect your Christmas trees between Friday 7th – Sunday 9th January 2022. For a donation to Springhill you will not only be helping the Hospice provide care and support to our patients and their families but you will also be helping the environment. All the trees we collect will be recycled and made into chippings that will then be used in the Hospice gardens.

Our CHRISTMAS BAKING KITS are now available to buy. They make a great gift for Christmas or are a perfect festive baking activity for you and all the family. For just £20 you can choose either a Christmas Cake kit or a Gingerbread House kit. Each one comes with all the dry ingredients you need to make something tasty for the festive season! Hurry though as we have limited stock available!

CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN

Christmas is always such a special and cherished time and even more so for those under the care of Springhill Hospice. This year we have launched our Christmas Appeal with the help of our Associate Specialist Palliative Care Nurse, Nathan, and one of our wonderful Hospice at Home patients, Jackie, to raise vital funds towards making every moment count for those suffering from a life-limiting illness this Christmas. We ensure that treasured memories are made and patients and their families can spend quality time together, whilst receiving the best possible care. And this is only possible with the incredible support of our local community.
