Celebrating one year of The Circle, Bacup

The Circle, Bacup, is a beautiful former church and listed building that has been transformed into a vibrant community hub, cafe and venue by owner and valley resident, Freddy Khattab.

Formerly St John The Evangelist Church, the iconic building, built in 1877 re-opened its doors last year as an exciting multi-use venue.

In May 2023, The Circle celebrated its 1st birthday with a packed day of food, drink and family entertainment.

The Circle, set in the heart of Bacup, is a place where the community can meet to relax and enjoy breakfast, brunch, handmade artisan pizza, lunch, superfood latte’s, speciality coffees, daily desserts or even watch a film! Their diverse menu caters for all dietary requirements. There's also a garden and outdoor seating area.

The venue is also a beautiful, inclusive, community event space that hosts a jam-packed calendar of events for all ages and genders, frequented by musicians, comedians, artists, dancers, bargain hunters, moviegoers and even sportspeople!

There's a cinema club, playgroup, dance classes, regular makers & artisan markets, themed musical nights, karaoke nights, vocalists and even an upcoming performance & magic show. Recent events have included everything from a ballet performance and a puppet show to a wrestling event! There really is something for everyone.

Owner, Freddy has brought together a team of like-minded people who live or work in the area in order to set up this unique organisation, with the venue creating a buzz of excitement in the town and proving increasingly popular with locals and visitors from across the UK.

Freddy was recently awarded third place in the 'Pride of the Valley' category at The Pride of Rossendale Awards. The Circle was also named as a finalist for 'Supportive Business of the Year 2023'.

The Circle is a licensed wedding venue, hosting beautiful non-religious ceremonies and wedding receptions within the stunning church setting and grounds. They can provide a bespoke and memorable day to suit your budget.

Earlier this year, The Circle offered couples the chance to win a wedding and the public voted for a wonderful and well deserving couple. They have collaborated with lots of small local businesses to make this exciting day possible.

The wedding will take place on Saturday 22nd July from 1:30pm and will be one with a difference as the happy couple will be joined by members of the public along with their invited guests so that the community can share in their special day... everyone is welcome!
