The local passion project turned blossoming flower business, say hello to Farmgate Flowers Direct.

Avid Jan Powers Farmers Markets goers and frequent Market Organic Store shoppers will be familiar with the name Farmgate Flowers – a local flower business meeting our weekly flower fix.

Having grown up on a flower farm on the northwest coast of Tasmania, owner Bec Thomas was always destined to lead a career in the field (quite literally).

“We had freshly picked farm flowers in our family home every day. It was not luxurious, indulgent, or extravagant. It was simply an everyday thing that everyone in the district just did,” Bec says. “I decided I wanted to give people the opportunity to experience what I had, and that was something quite special.” Eventually, Bec moved to Brisbane and launched Farmgate Flowers as a passion project in 2019 –now it has become her 9-5.

The majority of blooms are grown in the aptly named Tasmanian valley, Flowerdale. It’s there where every stem is handpicked to live up to the high quality, sustainable, and ethical standards that Farmgate Flowers are renowned for.

Farmgate has also just launched a Farmgate Flower Subscription Box to allow people to have fresh blooms in their homes all year round. After all, the only thing better than a fresh floral bouquet on your coffee table is a never-ending supply of them!
