Who said budgeting had to be boring? We chat to Téa Angelos, founder and CEO of Smart Women Society, an online education platform empowering women with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take control of their lives.

Téa Angelos has always had an entrepreneurial mindset – at 18 she started her own digital marketing business while undergoing university (she has a dual degree in law and commerce).

She then started Smart Women Society (SWS) as a passion project in 2020 while she was working as a management consultant for a ‘Big 4’ company.

“I’ve always been really passionate about simplifying complex topics into engaging and easy-to-follow steps,” she says.

“[When I was tutoring at university], I would always be drawing simple graphics or flow charts, and all my students loved that. I wanted to bring this same approach to a larger scale to help simplify all the boring, complicated, and scary life topics that we were never really taught about. And it picked up quite quickly and I was like, ‘I think we’re onto something here’.”

Now, three years later, SWS is one of Australia’s fastest-growing online education platforms, where you can find everything from money makeover and side hustle game plans to self-care guides and even travel planners!

“We are helping a thriving global community of over 400,000 women get smarter with their money, careers, wellbeing, and love lives,” she says. “We give really practical and actionable tips and break down complex topics into simple and easy-to-understand content.”

So why is financial wellbeing so important? Well, according to Téa taking care of your financial wellbeing is just as crucial as looking after your physical health.

“It’s about being confident and in control with how you’re managing your finances, your ability to meet your financial obligations, being prepared for unexpected events, working towards both short and longterm financial goals, and having the freedom to make choices that allow you to enjoy your life.”

So, there you have it folks – saving and budgeting is cool!
