FROM PASTURE TO PUB

For Brisbane ex-pat Joshua Jones, Noosa’s glistening shores have served as inspiration for not only his professional horizons, but for his home life too.

Since his sea change to selfprofessed ‘paradise’ five years ago, Joshua married the love of his life, welcomed two children into the world, and has travelled the country as Director of his company, Queensland Festivals and Events (QFE). To say he’s been busy would be an understatement, but thankfully for us, Joshua is far from done.

In the midst of bringing to life iconic events like the Red Hot Summer Tour, Sunset Sounds, and Australia’s biggest international country music festival, CMC Rocks, he’s also been developing the Sunshine Coast’s soon-to-be favourite new locale. “I’m in the process of building The Doonan, alongside my fellow QFE Director Neville ‘Nifty’ Allen and the Comiskey Group,” says Jones.

First and foremost, a pub — The Doonan will delight lovers of live music and (of course) a crisp, cold brew — but the Noosa Valley venue’s farm-to-table menu will also satiate foodies, and most crucially for Joshua, the atmosphere will be welcoming to everyone, including families. “I know how hard it is to find somewhere to go with the kids that doesn’t compromise on quality food and a good atmosphere,” he laments. “Once we open the doors, we’ll offer an experiential venue for everyone, supported by great food, all sourced from local producers.”

Another big win for The Doonan? Jones and Allen are proud to be including a cellar door on the expansive grounds, where guests can sit and sip or simply stop in and takeaway. Featuring locally made wines, beers and spirits, this breakaway addition will be a mecca for visitors to the area, as well as local grape and grain connoisseurs.

With the destination venue nearing completion, it’s beer garden and functions spaces will be ready and rearing to go just in time for festive season in November 2022.
