Something magical just happens when you combine two people with the same passion and desire,” says Sarah-Jane of her work with business partner and long-time friend, Laura. The pair, who are excited to open Huntress and Hound’s first physical space, L’air Studio, in August, have delivered a raft of striking designs together, all the way from Noosa to Bangalow.

With their business evolving at a rapid rate, Sarah-Jane and Laura are now using their momentum to focus on redefining the ways in which they work and interact with their clients, with each other, and with their environment. “Working with our clients to create a home or bring a design to life is an intensely personal experience,” Sarah-Jane muses, “the shared collaboration that comes from working closely over long periods of time is immensely fulfilling and many of our clients

“ have become lifelong friends through the process.” But lasting connections aren’t the only thing that set these designers apart. From the very beginning, Sarah-Jane and Laura were passionate about stepping out of the societal mould predetermined for women in business. “[We wanted] to reboot the system that defined the successes of our generation as highly-pressured, stiletto-wearing girl bosses and ‘she-e-o’s’ that so many women felt they needed to emulate – us included.” While creatively they work day-to-day to help their clients connect emotionally to the spaces in which they live, the rest of Laura and Sarah-Jane’s focus is now set on breathing fresh air into the ways we all work — whether through advocating for a midday walk on the beach, true workplace flexibility, or conscious design.
