It’s going to be a McCartney May

Whether or not you grew up in the 70’s, the name Paul McCartney should ring a bell, perhaps if the Beatles do? And for those of you who may not be as familiar, Paul McCartney was the co-lead vocalist of one of the most iconic bands of all times, the Beatles. Not only did McCartney sing the songs, he wrote many of them too. In fact, he holds one of the Guinness World Records for Most Successful Songwriter. McCartney went on to pursuing a solo career which led to the creation of more successful hits such as “Jet,” “Maybe I’m Amazed,” and “Band on the Run,” while simultaneously marking the end to the Beatles. McCartney told Rolling Stones in an interview, “I’m proud of the Beatle thing - it was great, and I can go along with all the people you meet on the street who say you gave so much happiness to so many people.” Referring to his time as a fellow Beatle. “I don’t think that’s corny,” he went on to say.

For the next several years McCartney would write about songs that marked nostalgia, and memory in not only himself, but also in all those who listened to his music. Born in Liverpool, England, McCartney grew up with music, and taught himself much of what he knows today. You can say music was in his genes - his father was a jazz player. By the time McCartney was a teenager, he had taught himself how to play the piano and guitar, and entered the scope of songwriting. Though the Beatles may have ignited McCartney’s career, it wouldn’t be his only role in a band. While pursuing his solo career, McCartney formed the band Wings, which went on to becoming one of the most memorable bands of the 1970s, winning over five Grammy Awards. The band stayed active for about a decade. By the 1980s, McCartney was performing solo again, singing songs like “So Bad,” and “Pipes of Peace.”

Hi solo career was just as successful as his time with the Beatles. Some would argue that he’s one of the most efficacious artists of all time. Post Beatles, he topped the charts nine times according to Paste. That accomplishment only surpassed by 10 artists, the Beatles included. This puts McCartney on top tier when it comes to the history of rock music. Though McCartney ruled the 70s, he didn’t stop there. In 2015 he had another hit, “FourFiveSeconds,” a track that also featured singers Rihanna and Kanye West. Let’s not forget “Find My Way,” released just last year.

So, where is the great Paul McCartney today? Well, word on the street is that he is getting back, getting back on the “Got Back Tour” that is. And the tour comes back to us on the 28th day of May! That’s right, you can catch the former Beatle in Orlando this month at the Camping World Stadium… So, with that I end with, don’t miss the beat-le!
