POEM

To be a poet is to be in class and asked to describe a bunny to someone who is blind.

To be a poet is to know that the blind man would not know what brown is, so instead say, “The color resembles the taste of coffee.”

To be a poet is to want the man to see again through what he knows to describe the exact shade, to say,

It is the coffee you would sip on a breezy summer morning, light roast with only one teaspoon of cream

It is the coffee you would drink after a long night of dancing under the stars, when you want to stay in a sleepy haze, for just one more hour before reality claims you again

It is the coffee so gentle, so light and foamy, that you can hold it in your hands It is the coffee that reminds you of your first love the kind she ordered on the first date before holding your hand

Yeah. That kind of coffee

Can you see the bunny now?
