BEESWEET

]

2015.11 - 2016.02

Perfume design, Beesweet is inspired by beekeeping. Like collecting honey from beehive, you can collect perfume to take with them in a portable flacon wherever you go.

5

6

7

CONCEPT The user behavior is inspired by harvesting honey from beehive where bees collect their food. This combination of two flacons is targeted for people who love to wear perfume but are reluctant to carry them due to size and space constraints within a handbag. When Beesweet is pressed with cover closed, it is possible to collect perfume and keep you on the go, for all day freshness. The perfume itself would contain musky / sweet fragrances.

INSPIRATION Harvesting honey was the inspiration and the visual identity of Beesweet are applied through many objects from the hexagonal structures found in the natural bee environment to bee jewelries.

8

STRUCTURE In order to transfer perfume to the small flacon, two stoppers are required. When the flacon spring and inner rubber are pushed and the two holes intersect, the perfume will flow into the bottle. It is advised that at transfer, the lid is kept on.

Inner rubber : Same role like spring for portable flacon.

Perfume entrance : when little flacon is pushed down, two mouths meet for perfume to get in.

Spring : It becomes a stopper of the body when it is not pushed.

PROONEE

]

2015.11 - 2016.02

Shampoo & Conditioner package that are reusable by opening a lid like you would with a tumbler or by refilling body itself like yogurt.

13

14

15

CONCEPT Proonee provides new refill system. No need to struggle of transferring the products from a refill bag to a bottle. Simply by opening a lid like we do with coffee cups and put the refill bag itself, we can continue using it without hassle to refill it. Proonee is named after the Korean adjective, Proon which refers to ‘clean blue.

INSPIRATION The usage of big package and travel package is inspired by tumbler and yogurt respectively. The big bottle can be opened with lid and mini can be refilled simply by switching the bottom body after peeling off foil lid. Visual identity came from purity of Santorini.

16

PROBLEMS 1. Mouth of bottle is so narrow that it is challenging to pour without spilling. 2. Not easy to wash the whole bottom bit of liquids before pouring other type of products. Sort out problems by putting the refill bag in the bottle and remove it after use.

HOW TO USE - Home shampoo : open lid and gently put the refill bag after cutting the top of it. Put the tube into mouth and cover the edge of cup with package to hold the bag inside. - Travel shampoo : remove vinyl lid of body and switch the body.

MESH SOFA

]

2012.06 - 2013.06

CS9800, released into market in fall 2013, is an elegant streamlined amenity sofa simply consisted of frame, sponge and mesh.

21

22

23

CONCEPT Mesh sofa mainly comprises three parts; frame, sponge, and fabric. This is how Mesh sofa can be lighter than most of sofas. Thanks to small number of components, manufacturing cost is reduced as well. With mesh fabric maximising resilience and strength, it creates natural streamlined curvature which suits for modern and elegant atmosphere of amenity area.

MARKET PLANNING Despite various sofa lines in Fursys, previously it has strong design language which is quite conservative and strict with straight lines. At the moment it was the trend for office environment that soft and amusing amenity facilities were expanding among big companies in Korea and it was assumed to grow more. In order to meet these needs, new and fresh sofa line design was requested. Previous Fursys Amenity Sofa

CONCEPT The aim of this project was to create a frame chair for Wing series. The height adjustability of legs is key function allowing kids to use the chair from their preschool years to elementary senior years. After using the frame chair, it can be switched to swivel chair simply by replacing the bottom part and undercover.

GROWING CHAIR By rotating four glides, 75mm is adjustable following a user’s growth speed. Round and smooth TPU of the glide bottom prevent the floor abrasion and slide.

FORM EQUALISER SPEAKER 2014.04 - 2014.09

Dissertation Project for Masters degree in Brunel University : a transformable speaker to adjust sound according to one’s acoustic tastes.

2016 A' Design Awards & Competition Silver A' Design Award

]

38

39

CONCEPT As a result of biomimetic study originally inspired by echolocation mechanism of bat, this transformable speaker allows a user to adjust sound by altering the shape of it. Each of 8000 small module is connected with rubber at the end, sustaining balance and providing flexibility of movement. Simply by pulling or pushing one or some part, shape and the tune of the speaker can be changed. This is targeted to sophisticated listeners who loves to adjust details of sound.

STRUCTURE RUBBER

Rubber attached at the end of modules and inner structure provide flexibility of module movement but also sustain the balance of them.

If you pull or push one of pieces, other pieces will follow automatically thanks to the rubbers. Like making a pottery, you can find your favourite sound as well as shape.

40

RESEARCH AND INSPIRATION There are more than 1,000 bat species in the world

CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT: CUBAN FLOWER BAT, GEOFFROY’S TAILLESS BAT, THOMAS’S FRUIT-EATING BAT, BUFFY FLOWER

and their habitat and prey vary depending on the

BAT, LEACH’S LONG-TONGUED BAT, ORANGE NECTAR BAT

species as well. Due to the difference of sensory tasks required for the environment and food, each species has evolved distinctive ears and nose shape. From the research, it was driven that sound pertains to shape. My concept was derived from this principle that shape can influence sound. a sharing house

[

SHEDIT

]

2013.10 - 2014.05

The project is about physical and virtual place where individuals can share their items systematically. This combined system, platform and application design.

45

46

47

CONCEPT The basic concept is derived from growing trend, collaborative consumption. Through this way, people consume products by swapping items rather than buying a new one. Classic examples are Airbnb and Uber. Based in research, next step to boost up the trend is considered to provide a space where people find it easy and safe to have the new bartering system. That was how this can start from self-storage. Instead of paying for storage, simply by leaving things and allowing others to use the goods, they can earn money. In order to engage people more thoroughly, system, environment, and application design had be combined together.

INSPIRATION The design is intended to break away the stereotype of modern consumption culture. Arch design is emphasized in the space design as a symbol of medieval structure. As other metaphors, iron gate and shield were used in application designs to symbolise the era. The system mimics the lending and returning of library systems with a warehouse layout.

48

SYSTEM DESIGN Shedit is a medium center for swap. It manages and supervises the whole process of selling and buying / lending and borrowing. Their main job is quantifying the value of the products and price for items. Shedit helps users to avoid confusion by controlling the evaluation and price. They check the quality every time new item comes or old item returns, and evaluation can affect the users’ reputation. This management of users and clear openness of reputation can reduce careless behavior towards others’ belongings.

COCOON

2013.09 - 2013.12

Cocoon is a design led business plan which sells and sublets custom built treehouses to individuals and companies.

2014 West Focus Bright Ideas Grand Final

51

52

53

CONCEPT The aim for tree house is to provide the environment to fulfill the human’s basic instinct to go back to nature and sleep inside it. In consideration of customers’ needs, one of the things that people are eager to experience in nature is sleeping in hammock. Cocoon has hammock inside usually covered up. When people want to sleep, they can slide out door at the bottom to reveal the hammock. This gives them the relaxing experience of being outside within nature combined with the comfort of being inside. A roll up wooden curtain on the upper part of the building allows the user to control what they want to view outside their tree-house. This could be opened to get a beautiful view of the sunrise or to fall asleep in the moonlight.
