The Club has not only made me a better player but a better person. The values the Club prides itself on I can implement into my life going forward and can’t be more thankful for it” said Powell. After numerous discussions with family, friends, the football Club, and experts it was in Rowen’s best interest to retire and not put his future health in jeopardy. “Unfortunately, the number of concussions sustained throughout my career and the lasting effects of my latest concussion was the only contributing factor in my decision. I would’ve loved to stay at the football Club and see myself play 100 games for Subiaco.” Powell looks forward to continuing his professional career in Finance and focusing on spending more time with friends and family. “Most likely finding some other way to exert my competitive energy whether that’s triathlons or marathons etc. Of course, still being a part of the Club in whatever capacity I can.” “I may be hanging up the boots but I won’t be a stranger around the Club” said Powell. Football Operations Manager, Kristian Dicton said “Rowen has been a fantastic servant to the Club both on and off-field. His ability to build relationships with not only his teammates but with our coaches, support staff and volunteers has been outstanding. Rowen always had time for everyone, his outgoing friendly nature made anyone who came in to contact with him feel welcomed and included. The Club wishes Rowen the best in his future endeavours.”
