RETIREES Rowen Powell has informed the Club that he will be hanging up the boots ahead of the 2022 Optus WAFL Premiership Season. 26-year-old Powell finishes up playing 54 league games for Subiaco, averaging just over 15 disposals a game. Powell joined Subiaco in 2017, after spending some time on West Coast’s AFL list, playing 12 league games in his first season with Subiaco showing some strong form late in the season as an outside midfield runner. Powell played in all three of Subiaco finals including the league grand final where he had 14 possessions in his debut season. During his five years at the Subiaco Football Club, Powell has been part of two premiership-winning teams in 2018 and 2019.
“Words can’t describe my experience at Subiaco Football Club. I have developed lifelong friends and memories which I will cherish forever. The Club has not only made me a better player but a better person. The values the Club prides itself on I can implement into my life going forward and can’t be more thankful for it” said Powell. After numerous discussions with family, friends, the football Club, and experts it was in Rowen’s best interest to retire and not put his future health in jeopardy. “Unfortunately, the number of concussions sustained throughout my career and the lasting effects of my latest concussion was the only contributing factor in my decision. I would’ve loved to stay at the football Club and see myself play 100 games for Subiaco.”
“Most likely finding some other way to exert my competitive energy whether that’s triathlons or marathons etc. Of course, still being a part of the Club in whatever capacity I can.” “I may be hanging up the boots but I won’t be a stranger around the Club” said Powell. Football Operations Manager, Kristian Dicton said “Rowen has been a fantastic servant to the Club both on and off-field. His ability to build relationships with not only his teammates but with our coaches, support staff and volunteers has been outstanding. Rowen always had time for everyone, his outgoing friendly nature made anyone who came in to contact with him feel welcomed and included. The Club wishes Rowen the best in his future endeavours.”
Powell looks forward to continuing his professional career in Finance and focusing on spending more time with friends and family.

DICK ROBINSON
Subiaco Life Member Mick Bailey has been loved by generations of players, coaches, volunteers, trainers, members and supporters.
Amaranti was a consistent player who often dominated the centre position and frequently beat players touted as champions, playing 169 league games between years 1955-1963.
Dick (Richard Thomas) Robinson was recruited from Kalgoorlie as a full forward following some great form in the GFL.
Never has it been more appropriate to say of anyone, Mick was the ultimate selfless Club man, who loved every moment at the Club with all the people he loved the most. He will be sadly missed and impossible to ever replace.
He was Subiaco’s fairest-and-best winner in 1955 and remained one of the Club’s finest players throughout the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. He coached the Club’s seconds team and was elected to Life Membership in 1973.

Amaranti was also inducted as an original Diehard in 2000.
ARTHUR LIVINGSTONE
DAVE CUZENS
Arthur was much loved around the Club in his 45-year tenure as a timekeeper for Subiaco, doing the Reserves from 1970 to 1986 and the League from 1987 to 2016, Arthur was also a long-time member of the GOLDS.
Dave grew up in Bassendean and established himself as a footballer of the highest quality with Kalgoorlie City, playing in the Club’s 1953 and 1954 premiership teams and winning the 1955 fairest and best award.
Arthur was inducted as a Life Member of Subiaco in 1985 and was an original diehard in 2000.
Cuzens was recruited by Richmond and played 69 games for the Tigers winning their Best and Fairest in 1958 and 1959 and serving as the Club Vice-Captain in 1960 & 1961. Cuzens returned to WA to take up the role of captain-coach of the Subiaco Football Club in 1962, playing 13 league games for the Club before retiring as a player, and continuing to coach the Club in 1963.
Dick played 15 league games for Subiaco from 1975 to 1977. MYLES FITZGERALD Myles played 11 league games between 1961-1962 and was considered a wellrespected team member with an Irish background humour. TREVOR HEATH After arriving in Western Australia from Victoria, Trevor played at West Perth before joining Subiaco between 19761978, playing 17 league games for the Lions. SAM RANDALL Sam was very often here at Subi games, a proud supporter from the time he could talk, he always maintained a passionate interest in the Lions. Sam had Subiaco Football Club in his blood, father Neil and brother Ben are both premiership players and life members.
