Ethereal is... Mood, light, depth, unearthed possibilities. There are no facts; only interpretations. Heavenly awareness, softened strength. Unconventional beauty. People are prepared to see what they want to see. Divine formations, 7, silken draped and high lit. Considered differences. The manifestation of another world in time...

Stephen James Rickerd ... Fashion designer and Illustrator Stephen James Rickerd, was born in

Northamptonshire where he studied Fine Art at the University Of Northampton School Of Arts. His inspirations come from the UK’s highest profiled and renowned fashion designers, Alexander Mc Queen and Vivienne Westwood. Ultimately as a

fashion designer, Stephen’s goal is to work with such fashion design icons in the hopes of building his own successful fashion empire one day.

Stephen recalls his formative years where he often watched his father

performing Opera. He would marvel at the stage settings, and the costumes, as they told a story of enchantment. These defining moments were the beginnings of an inspirational journey.

The 2013 collection is entitled ‘Ambasciatori’ translating in Italian to mean

‘Ambassador‘. The title reflects how Stephen would like to be acknowledged for menswear fashion design contributions in the future.

The Boy Chloe Woodgate graduated from Birmingham City University in 2008 with a BA Hons in Fine Art. Over the past few years, Chloe has experimented extensively, and it is these experiments which have allowed her to develop and grow into her signature style. Her work depicts an amalgamation of nostalgia, romanticism and pop culture. Her subjects are often tattooed, adorned with piercings or don a mass of brightly coloured hair. The liberal use of pastels, gels and paint palettes complete these stunning visual collages. Chloe also works as a freelance Make Up Artist based in London.

YOU ARE ONLY YOUNG ONCE...

Never has a truer word been spoken. Youth most certainly marks a time in your life where the possibilities are endless - That spring in your step, that carefree attitude, that boldness, that fearlessness, that limitless exploration and confidence. Physical and mental energies are high and most definitely in abundance. The reflection of youths vibrant nature is compressed within this stunning menswear collection entitled ‘Only Young Once’ brought to us by 10/10 – Sup Suphnut Chuwan Suwansanya. This collection like its predecessors, pushes boundaries and knows no limits. Although every crease, fold and cut has been meticulously calculated, considered and executed to the highest of standards, this collection conveys the very loud message that being different is to be comfortable in ones own skin. Although Sup is now Thailand based, he studied a BA Degree at London College of Fashion and has previously worked with designers such as Yuko Yoshitake and Jean-Pierre Braganza. We have been Sup’s biggest fans since we first worked with him in 2009 and although it has been a while, we feel it is never too late to celebrate and share brilliant talent. Available from: Mathematic, Capital Zen and Zalora.

Ellen Rogers

P

hotographer and filmmaker Ellen Rogers, infamously known for her stunning analogue fashion photography, graces our pages to further evoke the ethereal theme running through our Zero Issue. Ellen’s work is widely recognised and respected, not only in the realm of fashion, but within the circles of those whom understand and appreciate the beauty of imagery in its purest form. An icon amongst her peers, she will surely be noted in history for her contribution to the artistic world. To date Ellen has been featured in countless publications such as i-D, Vice, Tank, Dazed & Confused, British Journal of Photography, The Guardian, Vogue IT, Glamour, Lula, Harpers Bazaar China, Grazia IT and has been commissioned to work with fashion designers Charlotte Olympia, Piers Atkinson, Sorcha O’Raghallaigh, Maria Francesca Pepe and many more.

Whether the visuals are produced in black and white or colour, Ellen never fails to mesmerise her viewers – each photograph speaks much more than a 1000 words and encapsulates narratives untold. She is without a doubt, a master at what she does and for this very reason Ellen Rogers WE SALUTE YOU! We will continue to be obsessed with Ellen’s everlasting passion, drive and determination to remain true to her art and wish her continued success.

Fashion Illustrator and Graphic Artist Robert Tirado’s contribution to our Zero Issue comes in the form of two bespoke illustrations beautifully crafted with a merge of digital and manual techniques. His signature style is predominantly inspired by female beauty, fashion and photography. Sought after by many time-honoured titles (print and online), which are not limited to fashion, Robert’s work can be found in publications such as Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, Computer Arts UK and Juxtapoz, to name but a few. His play on colour, whether it is a soft emergence of blue or a vibrant acidic orange - never fails to draw the eye. We at subMISSION are honoured to have his work tantalise our pages! Enjoy.
