b u n i q u e W e e k : T a k e tw o ! Don’t miss out on your second chance to sign up to tonnes of amazing clubs and societies! BUnique week is back! Always wondered what clubs and societies are all about or feel like you could get a little more out of Uni? This is the week to cast your fears aside, loose your inhibitions and go for it! SUBU has loads of involvement opportunities that go beyond just socialising and having fun (although that is super important!) We want to give you skills and experiences that will help you get a job when you leave. We are currently living in some of the most difficult times to get a job so having an edge really is everything. When you graduate, you have the same degree as everyone on your course – multiply that by all the similar courses across the world and ask yourself – what makes you stand out? This week is about showing you how easy it is to take part in SUBU – whether it be Nerve Media, Rag, starting your own club and soc or Volunteering.

H i ghl i g hts M eet th e BU Ch eer leading team. Ba ton twir ling a nd pom pom r ussling, th e BU Fa lcons h ave made qui te th e impression.

SUBU currently has over 100 clubs and socs, and it only takes you and four mates to get one started. We will give you the support and funding you need so you can get your club off the ground. Rich and Jen can tell you everything you need to know so get in touch with them! Enjoy the week, and don’t be afraid to stop and ask what’s going on if you suddenly see dancers invading the atrium! Most of all: Sign up! It’s never too late to start taking part! @ suclubs@bournemouth.ac.uk

Rag

VOLUNTEERING

Rag stands for Raising and Giving and they organise loads of cool events throughout the year to raise money for charity. Leggit was a great start, a charity hitch hike where students had 36 hours to get as far away from Bournemouth as possible without spending any money. Over 250 students took part getting as far as Amsterdam, Paris and even Budapest, raising over £16,500 for charity!

Volunteering at SUBU is so easy. You just figure out when you are free and what intrests you. There is bound to be a volunteer opportunity that suits you. From helping to clean up Meyrick Park every wednesday afternoon, to volunteering in Bulgaria. Keep an eye out for Volunteering Week at Talbot Campus from 25th Feb - 1st March. This is where you can really get stuck in with everything SUBU Volunteering do. We are also holding two Volunteering Days at Lansdowne campus on 26th and 28th February.

There are loads more opportunities you can get involved with this year including skydiving, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and volunteering in Ghana – all in the name of charity! Get ‘Lost’ this term! The complete reverse of Leggit, you’ll be blindfolded, dropped in the middle of nowhere and the race back to Bournemouth will begin...
