2013, lets go!

So as we hurtle towards the Xmas break, here is the ultimate SUBU checklist.

Term 1, done! We can’t believe how fast that has gone. From getting to meet all you #buarrivals in September to those of you starting to think about dissertations and employment, its been a great term.

If you haven’t done all of these yet, make it your goal to hit them all up in Term 2!

You’ve raised £16,500 through Leggit, started your own clubs and societies, represented your course and partied at TOFS.

3) Voted in the SUBU elections – (there’s a huge one coming up in Feb and it decides who runs SUBU next year so deffo get on that one!)

We are really proud of all the work you have done – on your course, in your community and through SUBU. Here’s to an even bigger and better term 2 next year.

4) Used SUBU Advice. We obviously hope you don’t hit a crisis, but they deal with less urgent things as well such as budgeting and house finding advice.

Whatever stage of Uni you are at, it is honestly never too late to get involved in all the cool things going on. Even if it’s an hour of your time a week volunteering, it looks great on your CV and helps you get the most out of your time here.

1) Partied till the wee hours at Milk or Lollipop depending on your musical orientation. Points for both. 2) Signed up for a Club or Society  / Volunteering / Student Reps / Nerve / Rag.

Speak Week What issues? The U2 bus service, hidden course costs of up to £3000 assessment and feedback, interactions between courses and Schools, and even large amounts of

Louise Bryant, SUBU PRESIDENT who interacted with Speak Week, and a huge thanks to all the Student Reps for making this campaign so successful. It will be back, bigger, better, and more purple next term! #purplearmy @ suvpeducation@bournemouth.ac.uk

Speak week was an explosion of purple at Lansdowne and Talbot campus. We had 2 giant purple pigs which gained feedback on hidden course costs, boxes laid out at various locations to gain feedback on the key issues affecting students, our S.O.S surveys being filled in, and a talk out with our Vice Chancellor – John Vinney.

“although one of the huge purple pi gs was stolen during speak week, it was eventually returned to us and and we are happy and relieved it was found safe and well. ”

It was good to see so many students and officers from around the country coming together on the day for a common cause, and standing up for what they believe in. It is yet to be seen if the demonstration leads to any changes, but it can only be positive thing if we have at least drawn attention to some important issues that many feel have been ignored for too long. @ supresident@bournemouth.ac.uk

requests for a dentist on campus! Speak Week has given our SOS survey a huge boost with 2900 of you filling it in, and identified some key issues affecting the student body for us to work on now!

NUS’s #Demo2012 was a great opportunity for our BU students to be involved in a national campaign to put education and employment at the top of the government’s agenda.

Thanks to this feedback we can now focus our energies on ensuring these issues are raised. Thank you to all students
