Chloe’s role is to represent you at the hightest level of the University, helping make decisions which will shape your time at Uni. Chloe also chairs the Executive
Council, as well as fronting Students’ Union campaigns nationally. Chloe was elected to serve as President during the Full-Time Officer Elections, and makes up the Elected Full-Time Officer team along with Jon. VP Activities; Ellie, VP Education; and Reece, VP Welfare. If you need to chat to Chloe then you can find her on the 1st floor of the Student Centre.
WHAT IS SUBU, AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO MY TIME AT UNIVERSITY? The Students’ Union has something for everyone, from the UK’s biggest Summer Ball, to its world class representation system. We’re the Students’ Union at Bournemouth University, or SUBU as we’re known. As a student at BU, you’re automatically a member. SUBU is run by both students and staff and is led by four Full-Time Elected Officers, who’ve all been or are still students at Bournemouth University. Everything we do is aimed at improving your time here, and representing you. We ensure your voice is heard and your time at Uni is the best it can be.
We also offer loads of involvement opportunities, ranging from world-leading academic representation, sports teams, and the UK’s biggest Summer Ball, meaning you can get more out of University than just a degree. As we’re a non-profit, charitable organisation, every penny you spend in our shop, bars, cafes and The Old Fire Station is reinvested into the various services we provide you. These services include helping you to run a
club, society, or an event, providing you with advice and guidance, or helping improve your leadership skills by training you to become a Student Rep. There’s also Nerve Media and Jump TV, our very own student media outlets - offering radio, magaine, news and video opportunities. We’re committed to giving you the best University experience possible and with all this and more, we’ve got you covered.
YOU SAID, THIS HAPPENED You said/this happened is our way of showing you how student ideas can result in big changes throughout the University. Last year your opinions resulted in major changes across the University, the highlights of which can be found below.
YOU SAID...
THIS HAPPENED...
The Old Fire Station should consider opening during the day for Lansdowne students.
The Engine Room is now open throughout the week from 11am, giving you a great place to relax, chill out or grab a bite to eat.
We want a greater say in the way that Students’ Union events are run throughout the year.
A BU Talent Scout group was formed to make decisions on events such as Summer Ball 2015 and Lollipop.
There isn’t an outlet to find out about what green activities are happening across the University.
A SUBU Green Taskforce page has been added to the SUBU website and you can also follow them on Twitter @SUBUGreen.
SUBU’s departments aren’t very visible across Talbot Campus.
