THE BIG FEED IS BACK!
After raising an amazing 4 tonnes for local food banks last year, SUBU Volunteering is hoping this year is even bigger.
L
ast year SUBU Volunteering made a huge difference to the local area. From beach clean ups to wildlife conservation, nearly 700 student volunteers gave up their time for a good cause. This year our student volunteers will continue to make a difference, kicking off in style with the ‘Big Feed’ on Saturday 11th October, an event that delivered over 4 tonnes of food to the local community last year. The event itself is simple – collect as much food as you can from local supermarkets, and the team with the most food by the end of the day is named the winner! There’ll also be plenty of other competitions running throughout the day to keep the participants on their toes.
All food collected will be donated to food banks in the local area, helping the most vulnerable sections of society get a much needed meal. Last year nearly 4000 hours were given up by our volunteers, and this year we want to make that total even bigger! You can and your mates can still sign up for the ‘Big Feed’, as well as keeping up-todate with future volunteering events via the SUBU Volunteering website. UNSUNG HEROES
Celebrating the hard work and success of the students that make SUBU.
The 2014/15 Welcome Crew were fantastic! From the arrival of the students themselves, the nights out, and Fresher’s Fair, they were a fantastic support to all the new students here at the University. From all of us at SUBU, and on behalf of the students, THANK YOU!
FRESHERS’ FAIR PHOTOS From live music to tattooing, Freshers Fair 2014 had it all. Thousands of students descended on Talbot Campus to join clubs and societies, and most importantly pick up plenty of freebies! We were there to cover the action…
