LGBT hISTORY mONTH Your chance to explore past and present happenings in the LGBT story, culminating our parade, after party and trip to Brighton. We’re celebrating LGBT History Month with a series of events and activities to celebrate Bournemouth Pride. The aim of the month long campaign is to not only reflect on the history of LGBT, but to support and encourage the current community amongst Bournemouth University students to embrace their identity regardless of label. We launch with a screening of Before Stonewall, followed by an LGBT history quiz on 3rd February. On 9th February we will be screening Prayers for Bobby which
will be followed by a Q&A debate led by various BU Religious Societies. A trans/non-binary Q&A session will be taking place on 19th, which will feature a discussion of both historical and current issues of which prove problematic to the community. The pinnacle event of the month will be the incredible Bournemouth Student Pride Parade on Tuesday 23rd February. From 12:30PM (TBC) at AUB hundreds of students will take to the streets for the afternoon to march for what they believe in and to raise awareness
of pride for the student community in addition to wider Bournemouth. The Old Fire Station will be hosting the official after party from 10PM which will guarantee a colourful time until you can dance no more. For anybody wanting to venture further afield, we have a Brighton day trip leaving from campus on 27th February for only ÂŁ15 especially in support of LGBT Month. For further information on how to be involved or for event details, contact subucampaigns@ bournemouth.ac.uk.

Celebrating the hard work and success of SUBU members.
Our Refreshers Fair is looming on 2nd February on Talbot Campus. We have over 50 clubs and societies taking over the student centre to tell you about what they’re about and how to be involved, in addition to plenty of local businesses on hand with freebies and
discounts for BU students. There’ll be photograph opportunities, music and refreshments in the takeover. Look into finally getting round to learning that new hobby, the skill you promised you’d hone in 2016, and get to know like minded students.
Have You Met…THE Activities TEAM? The Activities Team are here to enhance your experience at BU and involve our students with the community. They’re split between RAG, Volunteering, Green and Activities. Each division has plenty to dabble inwhether it’s our iconic Lost with RAG, 5 minute volunteering, beach clean ups or our mass of clubs and societies. They
alone vary from cocktail to archaeology to Harry Potter Society. Chris, Jen, Emma, Gillie and Hannah all welcome anybody who wants to
drop in to their office on second floor to see how to be involved. Keep an eye on our website and FB/twitter pages for further info from each department.

More coursework and assigments should be marked anonymously.
BU have committed to ensuring that at least one piece of work per unit will be marked anonymously, and are working towards increasing this.
There should be more, fairer bursaries available for students from lowincome households
From the next academic year, there will be unlimited bursaries available for students whose household income is under ÂŁ25k.
Students should be provided with one-to-one academic advisors by the university to support their studies.
Since agreeing this before the start of the academic year, all new students have been assigned an academic advisor and the scheme will run every year, ensuring all students have one.
Student housing contracts should be changed to better suit the needs of post-grad students with different course lengths.
BU housing have agreed to extend housing contracts for post-grad students whose courses run over 51 weeks, the current contract length.
