Clubs Q&A This Week Chelsea Payne

Rag president

What advice would you give new students? Do as much as possible! University is not just about study, get as much out of Uni life as you can. That way you’ll really make the most of it. What can students expect from RAG this year? We’ll have loads of different challenges this year, including Climb Kilimanjaro, Trek to Machu Picchu, Cycle Vietnam, Lost, Leggit, Tough Guy & Sponsored Sky Dive. Rag will also be working with the the Mayor of Poole on some projects within the local community. How did you first get involved with RAG? I took part in Leggit in first year and the experience made me want to run for a committee position in my 2nd year! What’s left on your BU bucket list? Everything! I don’t like to plan it, but I try to be prepared to do anything and I’ll find a way to do it. What’s your favourite thing about Bournemouth? The beach - it’s got to be!

DYLAN’S GETS A REVAMP Based on student feedback, Dylan’s Kitchen & Bar has gone under a luxurious makeover for the new year

O

ver the summer, as many of you will have noticed, Dylan’s bar has undergone a major facelift. Dylan’s last had a revamp nearly ten years ago - back in the days when smoking in bars was allowed and beer was the biggest seller. Since then, food sales have taken over in Dylan’s and last year coffee sales even overtook beer in The Loft. The new look provided an excuse to refurbish the furniture, freshen up the feel and make it more food orientated. Extensive research with students in 2013 included over 500 responses, followed by detailed student focus groups and design submissions posted online. Since then, £70,000 has been invested in the construction, creating a fresh, welcoming place to relax and unwind.

DYLAN’S QUIZ

Whats New? Research last term sought to find out how people felt about Dylan’s quality, service, price, range and what their favourites were. Most feedback asked for consistency and speed so the updated menus focus on a new fast service lunchtime section and special evening meal deal promotions. In addition we have improved the offer of more nutritious options, Starbucks coffee and hot subs! Also, you can now guarantee a seat by booking a table in advance. Students can even hire a table, part of the bar or the entire bar for private parties for anything from a small birthday dinner to a huge course social - even on weekends! Simply email: dylansbars@bournemouth.ac.uk and look out for a new text booking service coming soon! Best Bits Promotions: Skint Wednesday’s (meals for £3), Weekend 2 for 1 on main meals, Friday night Classic Combos (meal & a drink) – check out the new menu cards. Kareoke Thursdays!

A firm favourite last year, the quiz will be continuing at 8pm on Tuesday nights with witty team names, cheap food and drink to share and enough trivia to keep Stephen Fry quiet.
