Briefly Charging COWD THE Cagayan de Oro City Council on Monday approved an ordinance, authorizing Mayor Vicente Emano to file charges against Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) and Rio Verde Consortium, Inc. T h e R i o Ve r d e Consortium, Inc. is a private supplier of COWD potable water for the city’s more than 40,000 water concessionaires. The City Ordinance No. 2013-113 authorizing the city mayor to file case was proposed by Committee on Public Utility chair Alden Bacal. T he ord i n a nc e w a s approved by the majority except by City Councilors Edgardo Cabanlas and Roger Abaday who abstained. POEA vancancies DAVAO C i t y - - T h e Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Regional Center for Mindanao has announced three job vacancies to be assigned in its offices in Davao City, Butuan City and Zamboanga City. POEA is inv iting interested applicants for the positions of Senior Labor and Employment Officer (SR LEO) which has two vacancies, and Attorney II (one vacancy only). Laguindingan airport is safer than Lumbia P-NOY SAYS

AGUINDINGAN, Misamis Oriental – President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday assured the public that the soon-to-be-opened Laguindingan Airport is definitely better and much safer than the existing Lumbia Airport here. President Aquino laid to rest the debate over the safety of the Laguindingan Airport, which will finally open in June 15, 22 years after the project began, by landing at the facility. Aquino unveiled a marker for the new P7.9-billion airport, which was begun in 1991 during the presidency of his mother, the late Corazon C. Aquino. Concerns over safety at the Laguindingan Airport have centered mostly on its lack of an instrument landing system. However, after landing, Aquino said: “Laguindingan, even without the navigational aids, is safer than Lumbia with the ILS system.” Lumbia, the airport in Cagayan de Oro, an hour’s drive from here, “elevated safer/PAGE 11
