Briefly Gailing Mason award CEMENT manufacturer, Holcim Philippines Inc., is now accepting nominations for the fourth cycle of Galing Mason Award, a program to honor Filipino masons who show great skill and pride in their work and are model citizens in their community. Any reputable individual or legitimate organization may nominate working masons who are at least 25 years old, holder of a valid Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Certificate on Masonry, and have resided in their area for not less than a year. Certificates of good moral character from at least two local organizations, along with other necessary documents should accompany the nomination to be submitted to the TESDA Provincial Office in their areas. Deadline for accepting nominations is until August 16, 2013.
Kasambahay Law GENERAL Santos City -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 12 has launched a series of information and education campaigns to further raise the public’s awareness regarding the implementation of Republic Act 10361 (RA) or the Domestic Workers Act. Dubbed Kasambahay Law information caravan, the campaign is mainly highlighted by the Kasambahay Forum series that initially kicked off in nearby Koronadal City, said DOLE Region 12 director Ofelia Domingo. RA 10361 is also known a s “ B at a s K a s a m ba h ay ” o r Kasambahay Law. Domingo said the information caravan will cover various parts of the region’s four provinces and five cities within the next few weeks.

URIGAO City -- Members of the Mamanwa tribe have lifted their barricade against the Adnama Mining Resources Inc. (AMRI) after they were paid P10 million in royalty fees.
Datu Reynante Buklas, o n e o f t h e M a m a nw a chieftains, said they lifted the blockade at the mine site of AMRI in Barangay Urbiztondo, Claver town in Surigao del Norte after

Benaldo commits suicide?
CAGAYAN de Oro f irst district Rep. Benjo Benaldo has reportedly committed suicide inside his room in the House of the Representatives yesterday evening, the Interaksyon.com reported. In a report written by Lira Dalangin-Fernandez, cit ing sources f rom t he House of the Representatives, reported that Benaldo reportedly committed suicide and was brought to the New Era Hospital
in Quezon City. Benaldo is the husband of model and television personality Daiana Menezes. As of 9:15 p.m. yesterday, the report has yet to be confirmed whether Benaldo did really commit suicide or, was gun down by still unidentified suspect(s).
