CREC president and chief executive officer Oliver Tan told reporters over the weekend that the company targets to operate solar power projects, run-of-river hydro plant, offshore wind power and energy storage system over the next seven years.

Tan said CREC plans to launch 1 gigawatt (GW) of solar projects every year until 2027, or a total of 5 gigawatts (GW) installed capacity within five years.

This year, the company will infuse $800 million in capital expenditure for its solar power projects, with its project in Batangas getting the lion’s share.

He said CREC is also in talks with Chinese

The energy storage facility will start commissioning by early 2024.

“The energy storage system will complement our 5-GW solar projects,” he added.

Tan also shared that the RE firm has started the construction of its first hydropower project in Isabela province. It will have a capacity of 19.7 MW peak.

The hydro facility is expected to be completed by 2026.

As the government polishes its policies to encourage investments in offshore wind power resources, Tan said CREC will be venturing into offshore wind projects. He added CREC has secured seven service contracts from the Department of Energy for its offshore wind projects. Three of which will be located in North Luzon, two each in the provinces of Zambales and Guimaras. By 2030, Tan said the energy firm targets to operate at least two offshore wind projects, with a combined capacity of 700 MW.

He said CREC is looking for foreign partners to support its future renewable energy projects.

“We welcome them (foreign partners) because of the enormous capital requirement to fund these projects. The local firms can’t do it alone, so we welcome them. And I think, it will be mutually beneficial for them to partner with local,” he added. (PNA)

Stages of Learning Development

What developmental phases do kids go through as they age from infancy to adulthood? You might consider how a youngster develops from babbling to speaking single words to whole sentences, or from crawling to walking. Emergent reading, early reading, transitional reading, and fluent reading are the four separate phases that children move through as they improve their reading skills. These stages are occasionally given different names or broken down further into substages. The stages represent the same broad skills advancement regardless of how they are titled. The rate and age at which children pass through these phases varies, much like in other aspects of growth and development.

Emergent readers are discovering the significance of print. Even though they are unable to read the printed words, as they turn the pages, they narrate stories in their own words. They discuss what they like or observe in the narrative while making comments about the illustrations. The capacity to rhyme and employ alliteration are among the phonemic awareness skills the children are gaining.

Early readers are starting to interpret short words with typical spelling patterns and comprehend the predictable relationship between letters and their sounds. They also naturally pick up on some sight words. They can read some straightforward books on their own by combining decoding techniques with sight word awareness. The students might summarize some of the key scenes and express their opinions about the work after reading or listening to it.

In transitional reading, individuals are able to decode multisyllabic words using a range of ways and immediately recognize several spelling patterns and sight words.

The pupils can now read independently for extended stretches of time and are starting to read simple chapter books. Their comprehension abilities are also developing swiftly. The children are currently starting to draw conclusions in addition to recognizing tale structure and giving personal responses to texts.

Fluent readers, they read clearly and at the right speed. They are able to decipher the meanings of the majority of vocabulary words they come across by using context cues, their understanding of the word's roots, or other cues.

The pupils' ability to compare and contrast, assess, summarize, and use other higher-level skills shows that they can understand complicated materials.
