Caraga’s tourism

BUTUAN City – At least 706,677 tourist arrivals were recorded in the Caraga Region in 2022, almost double from the previous year, the regional Department of Tourism (DOT-13) reported Tuesday. Data from the agency indicated that the tourist arrivals in 2022 has almost doubled compared to the 377,441 vacationers recorded in 2021. Of the total number of visits last year, 692,515 were domestic visitors while 14,162 were foreign tourists.

B. Rodriguez commended the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-10 for the conduct of its 2023 Mindanao Leg Multi-stakeholders Forum, February 3.

Rodriguez talked about how the country's environmental problems, like deforestation, pollution, and climate change, have a big impact on people's health, jobs, and safety. He stressed how important it is to work together to protect the environment and natural resources through dialogue, sharing information, and working together.

"We can work together to reduce our environmental footprint, protect our natural resources, and mitigate the effects of climate change. This will require a collective effort from government, civil society, the private sector, and individuals alike," he said.

Peace Institute

COTABATO City — Bangsamoro Government thru the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) officially launched the Bangsamoro Peace Institute (BPI) on Saturday, Feb 4, here in this city. According to the Ministry, the institutionalization of BPI will create a network of peacebuilders coming from different backgrounds, who shall be trained on various subjects or skills that are consequential in peacebuilding in the region. "The Ministry sees the important role of peacemakers, peacebuilders, and peacekeepers from the law enforcement agencies, nongovernment organizations, and Bangsamoro Government agencies,” MPOS Minister Hussein Muñoz said.
