SURIGAO CITY -- The Chamber of Mines of Caraga is calling on President Benigno Simeon Aquino III and Environment Secretary Ramon Paje to appoint a regional director for the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, saying they have been losing money because of the delay of processing of documents. If no regional director can be installed, the chamber pleaded that former Regional Director Roger A. de Dios, who was earlier relieved after allegedly disobeying the verbal order of his boss,

be reinstated. Chamber President Dulmar Raagas said the whole industry in Caraga’s five provinces, particularly in Surigao del Norte considered as the country’s mining hub, are affected by the absence of an MGB regional director.
