UTUAN CITY goes global, as Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante Jr. gets invited to various international conventions, an honor not just for the recently re-elected city official, but more for the Butuanons.
One of such invitations was from Germany where Amante spoke during the 2013 Eschborn Dialogue on the Comprehensive Land Resource Planning and Development Project (CLRPDP) of the city. CLRPDP is a co-management undertaking of the City Government of Butuan (BCG) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), under agreement with the GIZ COSERAM since early 2011. SURIGAO CITY – The number of dengue cases here has reached a record-high of 147 in the first five months, this year, with two deaths reported- compared to 107 cases for the same period in 2012, with four deaths reported. Assistant Statistician Evangeline E. Juarez of the Surigao City Health Office showed the fiveyear record indicating a rise in dengue cases. From January to May this year, 147 cases were
recorded compared to 107 for same period in 2012, 112 in 2011, 111 in 2010 and 75 in 2009. This year, Barangay Taft topped in cases with 63, followed by Barangay Washington’s 43, and Barangay Luna’s 24. Last year, Barangay Washington topped with 48 cases, followed by Taft with 22 and Barangay Luna with 21. In 2009, the total number of dengue cases recorded from January dengue | page 11
CAMP RAFAEL RODRIGUEZ, Libertad, Butuan City - Personnel of Barobo Municipal Police Station, led by SPO4 Elecito Rivas, under the supervision of Police Inspector Joy Allan O Blasco, apprehended a suspected shabu dealer, evening of June 24, this year. The suspect, Edelito Alonzo Diada, 26 years old, married, a motorcycle driver, was nabbed during a buy-bust operation right at his residence in Talisay, Barobo Surigao del Sur. Diada is in the illegal drugs target list of the Barobo police. Acting as poseur buyer was PO2 Arnold M. Sarong. Taken from the suspect were one transparent plastic sachet containing ‘shabu’ and a five PP500 marked money. The apprehending team continued body search of the suspect, inventoried and marked the evidences at the Barobo Police Station in the presence of Barangay Poblacion Kagawad Lucresio Sanchez and shabu | page 11
