Fifteen minute switching power interruptions on June 16, 17
DAVAO City--The Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) is set to conduct two 15-minute power interruptions on June 16 and 17 affecting customers within the downtown and the southern parts of its franchise. Ross Luga, DLPC assistant vice president for corporate communications, said that the scheduled outage is necessary to facilitate the power transformer servicing of its Ecoland Substation. To keep the power interruptions at its barest minimum, loads from Ecoland Substation will be transferred to adjacent feeders on Sunday, for 15 minutes only between 12:01 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.. Normalization or return of loads back to its normal set up will be on Monday, still for 15 minutes only between 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. after the work is completed. In the downtown area, affected by these service disruptions are those Gen. Luna, Ilustre, Duterte, portion of San Pedro, Legaspi and Magallanes Streets. power | page 11

AVAO City-- A former policeman was arrested during a buy-bust operation Saturday dawn inside a motel in Times Beack, Matina Aplaya here. Supt. Antonio Rivera, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch of the Davao City Police Office, identified the suspect as Rey Matildo, who had the rank of Police Officer 3 and assigned with the Talomo police station when he was charged sometime in 2003. Rivera said that they conducted the operation inside Room 20 of Twin Hotel in Times Beach at 3:45 a.m. Saturday as a policeman acted as poseur-buyer. Recovered from Matildo were five big sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P136,000 and assorted paraphernalia. According to Rivera, Matildo was already arrested in 2003 during a pot session and pleaded guilty for the offense. Instead of being jailed, he reportedly asked the court for voluntary rehabilitation that was granted but he was discharged from government service. “But based on our surveillance, he was back on his old vice. We tried many times to re-arrest him but he was very elusive,” Rivera said. He said an informant was very instrumental in the arrest of Matildo. PNA

Two moderate quakes felt in Davao del Sur
TWO moderate earthquakes rocked some parts of Luzon and Mindanao on Saturday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). In its bulletin, the agency
