Political prisoner on hunger strike NEWSDESK.ASIA
SINCE July 11, a consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) has been on hunger strike inside his detention cell at the Armed Forces Central Command in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu. The 12-day hunger strike is in protest over the ‘failure’ of the Aquino administration to release political prisoners and pursue peace negotiations with the NDFP. Ramon Patriarca, one of the 13 detained consultants of NDFP, will be on hunger strike until July 22, in time for President Benigno Aquino III’s fourth State of Nation Address. See hunger, page 11
