Soldiers repair learning center
TROOPS from the Task Force Davao continue to rehabilitate the Barangay Adapting a System for Independent Growth (ASTIG) Learning Center, as it plans to open the mini-library next month. Soldiers are now repairing and painting the school for the past two weekends which is intended to provide a better place for learning for the orphaned kids in Barangay 76-A. For a couple of months already, Task Force Davao has been assessing the school’s needs and will still be continuously conducting assessments for any further lacking requirements. During the previous weekends, troopers have been focused more on the construction and repairs of the building, designing the school walls and cabinets through mural paintings, and will be putting additional chairs if needed. Aside from the rehabilitation process, there are other programs in store for the orphaned kids of Barangay soldiers | page 11

THE Philippine Air Force said Monday two pilots were missing after their twin-engine propellor plane went down at sea during a night flying mission. The OV-10 Bronco, used largely as a maritime patrol support aircraft, failed to return to an air strip on the western island of Palawan Sunday night, air force spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Miguel Okol told AFP. “Combined elements of the coastguard and the navy have found parts of the debris and it appears to be the rear cargo compartment of the vessel,” Okol said. “We are still holding out hope that the two pilots were able to eject... we are searching for them.” Okol said the pilots had radioed the control tower that they were five nautical miles off the airfield and preparing to land before plane | page 11
