Cops file robbery charges vs. 2 men DAVAO City--Police authorities here have filed criminal charges against two members of a robbery gang tagged in the series of robberies in the city. This, after the identified leader of the group, Rowel Resuento, was arrested in Monserrat, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental last June 21 following a robbery at Express Lending House Corporation in Mc Arthur Highway, Matina last June 19. Due to series of robberies in the area of responsibility, Talomo police formed a tracker team led by Sr. Insp. Alfredo Santillana which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

AVAO City--At least 262 families with 700 individuals left their homes following skirmishes between government troopers and communist rebels in Mawab, Compostela Valley since Monday morning. Reports reaching the Mawab police station showed that a landmine explosion also occurred and wounded three members of the 66th Infantry Battalion. The government troops were conducting combat operations in San Isidro, Mawab, Compostela Valley when they encountered members of the New People’s Army. Residents claimed that after a loud explosion, they heard several gunshots which alerted them. A certain Rosito narrated that in the early Monday morning, they were having their breakfast when they heard the explosion and series of gunfire. He said they were forced to flee to avoid being hit with stray bullets. Evacuees were sheltered at the Barangay Hall and at the elementary school in Nuevo Iloco. Governor Arturo Uy immediately ordered the provincial social welfare office to attend to the needs of the evacuees. PNA REPORTS

PAF identifies two missing Mindanao eyed as PHL’s OV-10 pilots top investment priority THE Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Tuesday formally identified the two missing pilots of the OV-10 “Bronco” attack aircraft that went down during a night proficiency flight off Puerto Princesa, Palawan Sunday night. He cited the tropical fruits of Mindanao like pineapple, mango and banana as”global favorites” . DAVAO City--The Dept. of Science and Technology has deployed a total of 124 water level measurement sensors and automatic rain gauges on all river basins nationwide, according to Anthony Sales, director of the DOST 11. He told reporters during the public consultation on the implementing rules and regulations of the Republic Act No. 10532 which institutionalizes the Philippine National Research System Act of 2013, at the Men Seng Hotel, that the sensors will serve as early warning devices that warn local officials to conduct pre-emptive evacuation in case of flash flood.
