NPA’s Parago declares 5 Army men as POWs
DAVAO CITY--The New People’s Army’s (NPA) 1st Pulang Bagani Battalion (PBB) confirmed on Wednesday that they are holding five soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 60th Infantry Battalion and declared them as Prisoners of war (POWs). Ka Parago, high-ranking NPA commander, said Cpl. Emmanuel Quezon (Serial No. 827510), Pfc. Vernie Padilla (SN 898234), Pvt. Marteniano Pasigas (SN 901766), Pfc. Ronald Gura (SN 898248) and Pfc. Donato Estandian (SN 893670) were arrested in a checkpoint mounted by communist guerillas last Monday (June 17) in Bangkaan, Paquibato Proper village, this city. ARMY | page 11

DAVAO CITY--Three employees of the City Treasurer’s Office here have been investigated after discrepancies were found in the receipts they issued to the transacting public. City Treasurer Rodrigo Riola created a fact-finding team to conduct a thorough investigation involving three local revenue officers whom he did not identify pending the ongoing probe. “Initially, we have received reports that there are discrepancies in the receipts discovered following the inventory,” Riola said. He said if the fact-finding team could gather pieces of evidence then appropriate charges would be filed the three employees with the City Prosecutor’s PROBE | page 11
Pablo-hit province continues to get USAID infra projects

DAVAO CITY--The province of Compostela Valley, which was badly hit by typhoon Pablo in December last year continues to receive foreign assistance. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has started implementing the construction of its eight Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program Infrastructure Projects for the province. GEM Infra Projects Provincial Coordinator Florentino G. Go, Jr. of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) said that the USAID aims to finish the eight infra projects by August this year. Three of the eight projects will benefit
