NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH

After posting, a ‘zero casualty’ during typhoon ‘Pablo,’ the hands of the opposition in Cagayan De Oro City are again full in search of excuses. Finding no handle, the opposition would definitely concoct scenarios to complement their vicious motives. We are not only talking about the political opposition. We are also cautioning the Cagayanons against allied organizations that serve as a front of ambitious politicians. They not only served as a front, in fact, some members of these organizations are themselves running for an elective post. A BROWN COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE FOR OPOL, MISAMIS ORIENTAL. The people of Cagayan de Oro expect that the opposition did not welcome the zero casualties at the height of typhoon Pablo. On the other hand, the opposition wished that the typhoon had inflicted heavy casualty in order to advance their plans to discredit the city government. They are claiming that a person who waded through Gusa creek when the floodwaters were receding and went missing was a casualty. This is the least that the opposition could do given that their desire of having countless casualties during the typhoon did not happen. Now, it is clear that the political opposition in Cagayan de Oro City would not work for the welfare of the Cagayanons. Let us unite and work together to prevent these people from leading our lives. The true measure of the opposition’s characters indicated that they are working only for their selfish interest. Let us not be sweet-talked into the opposition’s false lies and accusations. We should remember that the greedy would always invent and fabricate scenarios and stories to advance their dreadful intentions. The political opposition and its allies would always resort to calculated deceptions because the people of Cagayan de Oro are aware of their wickedness. MABUHI ANG CAGAYANONS! THINK a minute. You may have heard of Jimi Hendrix. He has been called the greatest guitar player of rock n’ roll. One night, Jimi Hendrix was performing for a huge crowd of thousands at a sold-out concert. Suddenly, right in the middle of the concert, he stopped playing. The thousands of people in the audience waited in silence, wondering what Hendrix was going to do. Finally, the silence was broken when Hendrix spoke through the loud speakers. He said: “If any of you out there knows how I can get peace of mind, please meet me backstage after the concert.”

ator made every one of us to share and enjoy life with Him. In fact, we all something like a hole in our heart and life, like a missing piece of a puzzle. And until we find that missing part to fill our life, you and I can never have real, lasting peace and satisfaction, because we’re not complete. We can try to fill this emptiness with things like

money, power and respect, physical pleasures alcohol, drugs or sex outside marriage. We can even try to fill it with religion. But none of these things can give you real peace and satisfaction that lasts a lifetime. They may feel good for a short time, but later we’re back to feeling empty, restless and unsatisfied. This is because only Jesus Christ your Maker can completely fill the emptiness in your heart and life. So why not ask Him to forgive you for living your own way? It’s only then that you will finally be complete, and enjoy real peace and satisfaction that lasts a lifetime. Just Think a Minute.

losing his balance in boxing these days. His ‘born again’ belief has preoccupied his senses. His family is now deeply into local politics. Pacquiao is is running for reelection in next year’s midterm election. With a wife and brother joining politics too, Pacquiao’s mind has blown up. In other words, Pacquiao has now lost his concentration as a boxer – as an excellent pugilist. For Pacquiao, boxing is no longer in search of fame and glory. With eight world titles in eight divisions, the feat borders between human and the immortal Achilles. He has attained both fame, financial security, and a successful boxing career that is hard to duplicate by any boxer in Asia and the world. In short, Pacquiao has nothing to prove anymore in boxing. Being a Filipino billionaire-sportsman, Pacquiao is top 10 of the world’s richest sportsmen; he has nothing to crave for anymore. Aside from being financially secure, Pacquiao is also a successful politician. Now, before everything is lost, he has to decide. He should make a choice whether he would pursue politics or become a preacher where he would ultimately surrender all his worldly possessions to a group that his mother blatantly accused of going only after his wealth. No, Nanay Dionesia, that is not true!

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith…” (1 John 5:4, the Holy Bible). -oooBIGGER BLESSINGS IN “PACQUIAO-MARQUEZ 4”: It was a stunning and an unexpected knock-out alright, but then the sixth round loss of Manny Pacquiao to Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, Sunday, December 9, 2012, was part of boxing. Manny was right: “that’s boxing, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.” A victorious and sensational fighter like Pacquiao knows that he can’t win them all, and that he would have to lose someday. But then, there are always two sides to looking at things: the bright side and the dark side. In the case of Pacquiao’s loss last Sun-

Kakampi mo ang batas Atty. Batas Mauricio day, the bright side should outweigh the dark. First, it was a non-title fight, so Manny didn’t have to give away any title. Second, despite the evident punishment his body got from the right counterpunch of Marquez, he is up and about, physically good, and did not sustain any debilitating injury. Third, he is bringing home at least US$ 15 million (that’s US$ 25 million less US$ 10 million in commissions), which is about P6 billion, more or less. He will earn more, with shares in the pay-per-view sales worldwide. So, the blessings are bigger than the loss.

-oooCHANGE OF RELIGION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LOSS: And, notwithstanding the ranting and raving from Dionisia Pacquiao, Manny’s mother, that Sunday’s knock-out loss was due to his having changed his religious affiliation and subsequent refusal to wear the Holy Rosary, there is absolutely no basis to claim that he lost because of that decision. While it is true that many believe, as I do, that the Holy Rosary is an expression of faith, and that the Virgin Mary can make powerful intercessions, the fact remains that Manny’s

change of religious affiliation did not take him away from God. I am quite sure Manny remains a faithful believer in God with his new-found affiliation, although he worships Him now much differently and in a complete turn-around from what he used to do when he was still a Catholic. If at all, there is a message from God in what happened here, and I wouldn’t venture now to guess or speculate on what it is. But then, whatever that message maybe, Pacquiao must always be thankful, as all of us should always be thankful, too, even in the face of adversity and tragedy, as Ephesians 5:20 of the Bible says: “… always give thanks to God the Father, for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” -oooPAC Q UIAO MU S T F IG H T AG A IN A ND AGAIN: Finally, I agree TRUE | page 10

Pusher arrested A suspected drug pusher from Mindanao was arrested

during a ‘buy-bust’ at Sitio Lugutan, Brgy. Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island on Saturday. The suspect, Saddam Tuwalo Amito, alyas Ryan, 19, of Mindanao, is living temporarily in Manoc-manoc. Police reported that Amito was set to meet a poseurbuyer when he was collared by combined operatives of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC), Provincial Intelligence Branch Operative (PIBO) and Aklan Provincial Safety Command. Confiscated from him were three sachets of suspected shabu. The suspect is now detained at the BTAC and charge with violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

4MATIcrew rescued in Caraga City, Davao Oriental––Fishermen from the coastal

town of Caraga here rescued four crew of a fishing vessel Monday morning. The fishermen are now recuperating at the Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital in Mati City. They are Roger Mendoza, Joseph Resnera, Bobby Farcaldo and Dante Barsina, all from General Santos City. They said their vessel M/V Shekina capsized when typhoon Pablo hit the province. The Philippine Coast Guard said a total of 27 fishing vessels were reported missing since the devastating typhoon hit the province on December 4.

Pandag town mayor meets with brgy officials New bridge By Julius G. Bañaga and Rich Teodoro, Mindanao Daily News-Maguindanao bureau

THE town mayor of Pandag recently met with the barangay officials of Kauran in Ampatuan town in the province of Maguindanao. During the meeting, Pandag town Mayor Zajid G. Mangudadatu discussed with the officials on how to strengthen the barangay’s agriculture and how to boost its local economy. Mangudadatu also discussed with the officials the status of the barangay’s livelihood projects--and

idenfity possible market linkages for its local products. Agriculture played an important role in the national development especially in the municipality of Ampatuan, said the town mayor. He added: “Vast agricultural resources and skillful farmers are the key factors in providing sustainable income to native farmers and entrepreneurs not only in the barangay level bust in

the municipal level, as well.” Mangudadatu, who is eyeing the congressional seat in Maguindanao’s second district in the midterm elections, also visited one of the tourist attractions in the barangay––the Kilantan resort. However, the mayor noticed that the road leading to the resort needs immediate repair. With this, Mangudadatu vowed to send heavy equipment and his team of

engineers to immediately work the poor road leading to the resort. He also gave 100 pieces of plastic chairs to DAMAYAN, INC., a duly registered cooperative, organized to help and assist the less fortunate residents of Kauran. The visit Mangudadatu was made possible through the imitative of Ferdinand “Bongbong” G. Bañaga, an active leader and constituent of Barangay Kauran in Ampatuan.

DAVAO City––The national government needed at least P96 million to fund the construction of the new bridge to replace the collapsed Teodoro Palma Gil Bridge in San Mariano, Caraga, Davao Oriental, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH 11). DPWH assistant secretary Dimas Juguilon and regional director Mariano Alquiza visited the area last week to assess the impact of the damage caused by the typhoon “Pablo”. The collapse of the bridge caused problems in the delivery of relief goods and the rescue and retrieval operations in three coastal towns of Baganga, Cateel and Boston, all in Davao Oriental. Another route, the Compostela-Cateel national highway, was also impassable due to landslides also burying and destroying the roads. Highway officials said that the newly-constructed DPWH district office in Baganga was not also spared of the typhoon, saying ‘it was a total wreck.’
