PrimeNews EMANO LOSSES IN CDO CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY) – A combination of community issues centered on his handling of typhoon Sendong relief efforts ended the magic of Mayor Vicente Emano whose political dominance in this city and in the province of Misamis Oriental spanned more than three decades. The Commission on Elections proclaimed Gov. Oscar Moreno as the winner in the hotly-contested mayoralty race at the City Council session hall Tuesday night. Moreno garnered a total of 109,886 votes compared to the 92,033 votes Emano got from the two districts in Cagayan de Oro City. Comelec City Director Palmer Palmene deferred the results of four precincts whose compact flash cards were found defective after it was determined that the remaining votes will not affect the outcome. Also proclaimed winners are incumbent Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, who won his third term against Councilor Nacaya in the second district; and Klarex Uy, who defeated incumbent Rep. BUTUAN CITY – The City Board of Canvassers here proclaimed Tuesday evening Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. and 10 topnotchers in the race for the local council seats as winners in the May 13, 2013 political exercise at city hall’s third floor conference room. LUMADS , DOMINATE MALAYBALAY’S CITY COUNCIL (MALAYBALAY CITY) – A total of six of the 10 candidates in the winning circle for city councilor here can be traced to Lumad families, specifically of the Bukidnon tribe, according to Anilaw Inlantong Erwin Marte, chair of the Bukidnon Tribal Development Council of Elders (Butridce), Inc. The number one councilor, lawyer Jay Warren Pabillaran with 36,559 votes, is from the city’s Inicial clan. Pabillaran also topped the winners for city councilor in the 010 elections. He was then followed by lawyer Roland Deticio, who is vice mayor-elect of Malaybalay. The councilor with the third highest number of votes is George Damasco Sr., from the Damasco clan. He was followed by fourth placer Provo Antipasado Jr., whose mother was a Rodano, a native of Bukidnon. Marte said fifth placer Lorenzo Dinlayan Jr. is also from a prominent family of the Bukidnon tribe. (Walter I. Balane) GENSAN MAYOR BLAMES BROWNOUT FOR UPSET LOSS GENERAL SANTOS CITY) – Incumbent Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio has blamed the prolonged brownouts here in the past onths and the public’s “unfounded” perception that the city government had done nothing to address the crisis as among the reasons behind her failed reelection bid in the May 13 elections. The mayor acknowledged that her popularity and those of her party mates in the administrationbacked Liberal Party-Achiever’s with Integrity Movement (LP-AIM) had nosedived when the daily rotational brownouts in the area reached seven hours in March. She said her critics and some residents misjudged her over the outages.
