AMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City---A simple turn-over ceremony of the 58th Infantry “Dimalulupig” Battalion of 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division was held at the Battalion Headquarters, Migbanday, Claveria, Misamis Oriental at 10:00 o’clock in the morning yesterday.

Lieutenant Colonel George L Banzon, Commanding Officer of the unit relinquished his leadership of 58IB to Lieutenant Colonel Evan M Bermudo as the new Battalion Commander of the unit.

Lieutenant Colonel Bermudo, prior to this new designation, held various positions in the Philippine Army such as; the Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, G8; Operation Officer of Task Force PANAY; Chief Management Fiscal Office, Executive Officer of 47IB and Executive Officer of 301st Brigade all of 3rd Infantry “Spearhead” Division based at Camp General Macario Peralta Jr,

Jamindan, Capiz. His most recent assignment was with 402nd Infantry “Stringers” Brigade as the unit’s Executive Officer.

He replaced Lieutenant Colonel George L Banzon, who is set to assume his new post as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, G3 of the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division.

In his message, Ltc Banzon, extended his thanks and gratitude to the officers and enlisted personnel of the unit for their untiring support and dedication to service rendered during his incumbency as battalion commander. He encouraged all officers and personnel 58ib /P5

The Full Disclosure Policy Portal (FDPP) is a webbased view portal created to assist local government units in complying with the online posting requirement of the Full Disclosure Policy.

People may view, download and print local government financial documents.

The project was launched in November 26 of last year and was spearheaded by former DILG Sec. Jesse M. Robredo. The portal can be accessed on http://fdpp.dilg. gov.ph.

On the other hand, FDPP is under the project of Full Disclosure Policy meaning it requires LGUs to post their budgets finances, and bids.

The importance of this is that people are now made aware of how much public funds are available for the development of their communities and to what extent the LGU can help them.

Second, people are informed of how public funds are allocated and spent.

Third, if not totally prevent corruption at least minimize it and lastly it helps to promote transparency, accountability and good performance in government financial transactions.

Ang paglilinis sa Manila Bay, ani Villar, ay isa lamang simpleng paraan ng pagpapasamat at pagpapakita ng ating pagmamahal sa kalikasan, at ang pag-aalaga at pagmamahal sa ating kapaligiran ay hindi lamang dapat gawin tuwing Earth Day. “Sa araw-araw nating pamumuhay, dapat na pagsikapan nating pangalagaan ang ating kapaligiran,” ani Villar na kilala sa bansag na “Misis Hanepbuhay” dahil sa pagbibigay ng hanapbuhay sa ating mga kababayan.

Globe moves to optimize brand new network Advancing 2-year capacity with more fiber optics

The network modernization program of Globe Telecom that will transform consumer mobile experience has reached a critical milestone. All of the company’s cell sites nationwide have been replaced with the newest state-of-the-art equipment.

“The first phase of the modernization is practically done. We have immediately moved to the next phase of optimizing our new equipment for maximum performance,” declares Emmanuel Estrada, head Network Strategy of Globe Network Technology Group. “This concludes the modernization of our access network.”

An access network refers to the last mile or the final stretch radio frequencies must travel between a subscriber’s mobile phone and a

service provider’s network.

Estrada explained, “In parallel, we are aggressively transforming our transport and core network elements to yield the best possible customer experience. Like all systems, a network is only as strong as all its elements combined and working harmoniously.”

A transport network refers to the facilities that relay the signals from the cell sites of an access network. These are then moved to the core network where the heavy processing takes place, as what would be required for service subscriptions or billing, for example.

“We invested USD700M in a complete network modernization program.

We are putting in a brand new access, transport, and core network,” says Estrada.

“This is not a superficial

facelift. The antennae and towers that most people see are the access components. Then there are underground and aerial fiber optic cables for transport.

Finally, there’s switching and routing equipment at the core. We expect to complete modernization of the last two network elements this year.”

“To radically improve our network performance and our customers’ experience, we need to replace more than cell sites. To date, we have laid down over 6,000 kms of additional inland fiber in anticipation of higher traffic from mobile browsing and data usage.

We have also completed our submarine fiber optic cable links in Boracay and Palawan. Also, 54% of our sites are already running on 4G HSPA+.”

In the first quarter 2013 NTC benchmark tests, Globe successfully surpassed the mark set by

the regulator. Globe has shown progressive network improvements in the NTCled benchmark tests, its own

in-house network quality tests, and based on results from an independent study on network perception.

Kawit MGO settles obligations with GSIS - Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) President and General Manager Robert G. Vergara receives a check from Mayor Reynaldo B. Continuing education and formation BECAUSE of the trimestral plan in our school, the graduation and the start of a new school year come close to each other in the month of June. The sharp transition of the old and the new gives me the sensation that education and formation never end. They just begin and begin, twirl and turn like a spiral.

As I see the graduating class finish their course, I look back at the three years they spent in school and with me. I ask myself, have these guys really learned the skills imparted, and more importantly, developed the proper attitude toward life?

It’s an intense moment of truth, fueling the need to hope and pray, and then review the record and the experiences, and to get another look at the conditions of today’s world to see if

there are things to be improved, changed, deleted or introduced in the school.

There are actually quite a lot to be done. Educating and forming students, while relying on some structure, past lessons and tradition, always involve new things and new challenges. It’s a very dynamic affair. And so, we just have to cope with them. We just have to learn to flow with the times.

Truth is nowadays, at least for the young boys who

graduate from our school, a big challenge is how to help them keep their humanity and Christianity intact, and also to help them humanize and Christianize the strong technological, not to mention, an increasingly secularized environment that they usually work in.

It cannot be denied that they are very vulnerable to the trend of becoming automatons that undermine their being persons. Since many of them are pressured

to work immediately so as to earn and help their family, they tend to disregard certain basic details that actually protect them as persons.

Since they are young and still naïve in the ways of the world, plus a host of other factors like family problems, difficulties in one’s personal life, etc., they don’t mind dancing to the music of a technological culture that often has no human soul.

In fact, this technological world offers them a Faustian bargain of some relief.

They can easily compromise their faith, their morals and ethics, since they do not know yet how to assess the cultural and professional environment from the theological point of view. They tend to blindly follow the crowd. education /P5

Sa madaling salita, upang labanan ang heat wave, dapat tayong magbalik sa Diyos sa lalong madaling panahon.

Sapagkat aminin man natin o hindi, malaki ang kaugnayan ng heat wave sa kabanalan, espirituwalidad at sa Bibliya, at least sa mga Kristiyano. Kasi, sa dalawang bersikulo ng Banal na Aklat, nakasulat na doon na darating nga ang heat wave, bunsod ng kabiguan ng tao na makinig sa Diyos---na ang ibig sabihin, dahil sa hindi na kasi nagbabasa ang tao ng Bibliya---at ng heat /P5

‘Don’t follow your conscience’ Think a minute…

Some young children were asked this question: “What is a conscience?”

A 6-year-old boy said he thought it was “the bad feeling you get when you kick girls and puppies.” A 9-year-old said your conscience is “a voice inside that says ‘No’ when you want to beat up your little brother.” A guy was giving his friend advice on how to make a decision. He said: “You’ve got to follow your conscience. It’s like the little man inside you telling you what’s right and wrong.

Just do whatever your little man tells you to do.” His friend answered: “No, that won’t work for me. My little man’s an idiot!”

It’s like the popular song about a person who’s committing adultery that says: “How can this love be so

wrong if it feels so right?

If lovin’ you is wrong, I don’t want to be right!” Our feelings and conscience are NOT always a good guide to show us what’s right and wrong. Since everyone one of us has the tendency to be self-centered in one way or another, we’ve damaged and confused our conscience. So we often tell ourselves that certain wrong things are right so we won’t feel guilty about doing them.

A person can be very wrong even though he doesn’t feel wrong or guilty.

For example: Adolph Hitler had 6 million Jews tortured and murdered just because of their race! But he did not show any guilt for all the evil he did. Does that mean he was not guilty of all those wrongs, just because he didn’t feel guilty?

Of course not! You and I can tell a small lie, cheat on our taxes, school exams or customs duty, or get away with a little stealing.

But that does not mean it’s right, or that we will never be caught and punished. The fact is we’re still guilty of doing those wrong things, even if everybody else is doing it.

So because we cannot depend on our conscience or feelings every time, we need Jesus Christ to be our guide Who can clearly show us what’s right and wrong every day. Today, even though you have not felt very guilty, you now understand that you are guilty of living your own way. You know that you’ve done wrong things: wrong thoughts, words, and actions. Maybe they were even things you thought

were not wrong because many other people do them.

Yet the good news is Jesus Christ will still forgive you and start changing your life if you let Him. So why not ask Him to take full control of your life and help you start living His way every day? It’s the way you can finally have real peace in your conscience, and the satisfaction of living the right, successful way. Just Think a Minute …

Envt body to tackle farmers concerns The City Council committee on environment and natural resources chaired

by Councilor President D. Elipe is set to tackle Resolution No. 36-2012 of the Bayanga Integrated Forestry Farmers Association (BAISFFA), Bayanga, Cagayan de Oro City regarding its application for Community Based Forestry Management Agreement (CBFMA) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The BAISFFA has manifested its intention to comanage portion of the tim-

berland located within Sitios Eliron, Monigue, Care-is, Maputi, Midkiwan, Balugua, Hawaii, Tagbokbok and Mahayahay, Bayanga.

The Barangay Council of Bayanga, through its Resolution No. 36-2012 endorsed the Bayanga Integrated Social Forestry Management Agreement (CBFMA) to the DENR. According to the barangay, the intention of the association is laudable considering the global concern of climate change, which requires the involvement of all citizens.

At least when they are still in school, especially when they undergo their on-the-job training (OJT), we take pains in monitoring the working conditions of the partner companies they train in, and we encourage them to talk with their respective mentors and with me regularly.

Still, a lot more need to be done and improved. I, for one, feel that I need more time to be able to chat with the guys more often and more deeply. They have to be helped in maturing their virtues and values, and that just needs a lot of time.

They have to learn how to pray, how to think properly, how to develop a good sense of priorities, how to grow in the virtues—all of them, from humility to order, temperance and chastity, hardwork, fortitude, etc.

The education and formation of these boys go far beyond the textbooks and the classroom setting. A lot of personal interaction, mentoring and spiritual direction are needed. Each one has to be dealt with personally, and not generically.

Each one has to be known as he really is, distinct and unique from the others, and therefore has to be dealt with, motivated according to how he is. We have to know each one’s potentials, and try to help him actualize those potentials.

He has to be helped also in his defects and handicaps.

Another important element to consider is the family. Many of the families of the boys are not exactly in the ideal condition. Far from it, though there are some that manage to remain simple and unaffected by the ills of today’s world.

We should try to know the family background of each one, and by some program try to reach out to them. It’s important that close coordination be made between the school and the family, for a more wholesome and effective development of the students.

Since many of the students come from the provinces and are simply boarding in the city, we have to know the conditions of the boarding houses, and again try to do whatever to make those temporary residences conducive also to the education and formation of the students
