There, Mrs. Villar expressed her desire to give livelihood support to the coop members, through the Villar Foundation. In same occasion, she sounded the need to increase the budget for the state colleges and universities, relating such a need to the case of the late UP Student Christel. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY Membership in the Pag-IBIG Fund (Home Development Mutual Fund) is now mandatory for all Social Security System (SSS) and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS)-covered employees. Membership also includes uniformed members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Filipinos employed by foreignbased employers.

Republic Act (RA) 9679 states: “Spouses who devote full-time to managing the household and family affairs, unless they also engage in another vocation or employment which is subject to mandatory coverage, may be covered by the Fund on a voluntary basis adopting as a basis of contributions one-half (U2) of the monthly compensation income of the employed spouse.” Ferdinand Saniel, department manager of Pag-IBIG Fund Cagayan de Oro Branch, said RA 9679 aims to have more Filipino workers enjoy the benefits reserved only for Pag-IBIG fund members. pag-ibig /P5

DILG-R10 turns over 30 multi-cabs to CdeO brgys.

ANOTHER 30 units of multicabs were turned over by the Department of the Interior of Local Governments (DILG-10), Wednesday, to Cagayan de Oro City’s rural barangays. Said vehicles were received by the respective punong barangays and other barangay officials during ceremonies held at the grounds of DILG-10 regional office. That brought to a total of 80 multi-cab units for the city, acquired through the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of Senator Aquilino Martin L. Pimentel III. It can be recalled that on Feb-

ruary 25, this year, the initial 50 units were released to different recipient barangays. As envisioned, the vehicles are primarily to be used to ad-
