CAGAYAN de Oro City’s new mayor, Oscar Moreno, has drawn a line between city hall employees he wants to work with and those he wants to vacate their posts during the flag-raising ceremony, Monday, July 1, 2013, when all elected government officials in the country have started their official day in office either as newly elected or reelected government officials. Mayor Moreno said casual employees and those on Job Orders, because they have been used for the campaign period and the May 13, 2013, elections’ purposes by the past city mayor and other city officials, have to leave city hall now or, at least, step aside. Moreno said this is not the time for them anymore. “Katong dili gusto mag trabaho, pag saba’ lang (those who do not want to serve under me, just make noise for me to know),” Mayor Moreno said. Moreno said he fully understands that those who
accepted the work for the elections need to support themselves and their family, but they have already become “incompatible” to serve the people with him and have to vacate city hall. “This is no place for you,” he said. “Pahawa na (go ahead and leave),” Mayor Moreno told city hall employees during the early Monday flag-raising ceremony, referring to those who do not intend to work with him in doing public service to Kagay-anons.
