City mulls taxing lease on posts, towers, poles CAGAYAN de Oro City--The City Council would tackle the proposed City Ordinance imposing tax on rental or lease of electric and telecommunication posts, poles, or towers by pole owners to another pole users here. Vice Mayor Ian Acenas said on Monday that he has referred the proposal to the City Council’s Committee on Energy in order for the committee to schedule a debate on the issue during the city council’s regular session. Acenas said that the proposal to tax those who earned out of rental or leasing their electric posts, poles, and communication towers has been an object of debate in the past. “The city government, the pole owners, and the lessors should discuss the parameters of the issue in order to arrive at an agreement that would be fair to all,” Acenas said. Expected to attend the hearing are representatives of the energy firms, the National Telecommunications, representatives from the telecommunication companies, representatives from the city government, Acenas added.
2 died in motorcycle accidents in MisOr
MISAMIS Oriental--Two people, one an ambulance driver, died in two separate motorcycle accidents in Misamis Oriental on Sunday, a police report said on Monday. Police investigators identified the fatalities as Harold Caballero,28, of Sta. Ana, Tagoloan and Ralph Albert “Jongjong” Ehem, an ambulance driver, of Tagolo-an, all of Misamis Oriental. According to the police, Caballero sustained fatal head injuries when the motorcycle he was operating crashed on a concrete electrical post in Tagolo-an Sunday afternoon. Witnesses told police that Caballero failed to control his motorcycle, a colored maroon of Kawasaki model with plate number 2492 KA. Police said that Ehem was on his way home Sunday night on board his motorcycle, an XRM with plate number 72447 KA when smashed by a speeding van typed vehicle. Ehem, an ambulance driver in Tagolo-an, died of fatal injuries, the police said.

ISAMIS Oriental-The provincial government of Misamis Oriental on Monday announced that the provincial jail located in the provincial capitol compound along Gen. Antonio Luna Street in Cagayan de Oro City was up for sale.
