Fare matrix from CDO to airport up for discussion

CAGAYAN de Oro City--The City Council here would tackle the issue on fare rates of shuttle services from the city to the domestic airport in Laguindingan and vice versa. Vice Mayor Ian Acenas said that the local legislative body was reacting to an invitation of the regional Land Transportation and Franchising Board (LTFRB) for the city government to make representation in a hearing to determine the fare matrix rates. He said a shuttle operator petitioned the LTFRB last June 24 to allow them to charge a P 249 per person fare matrix from Cagayan de Oro City to and from the airport. City Councilor Alden Bacala said that based on a memorandum circular of the LTFRB, the fare should be P2.50 per kilometer, which would mean that the fare from Cagayan de Oro City to and from the airport would only cost P100. “The City Council should discern to arrive at a fair and just matrix,” Bacal said. He said the city should come up with its own proposal on fare matrix for submission to the LTFRB. Acenas said he has endorsed the report to the City Council’s Committee on Public Utilities for appropriate action and recommendation. (PNA) CD/CD

ISAMIS Oriental--Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano on Thursday said he would prefer to a “Tiange Sa Park” (Market in the Park) instead of “Nite Café” at the provincial Capitol ground. Emano made the statement as residents in Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City favorably endorsed the plan to relocate the displaced stallholders and vendors after the weekly “Nite Café” at the Plaza Divisoria in Cagayan de Oro City was suspended. City Mayor Oscar Moreno said he would object to the transfer of the “Nite Café” to the provincial grounds since it is the prerogative of the provincial government. However, Moreno said, the activity should not hamper traffic flows since the streets surrounding the provincial Capitol are city streets. Emano said that he would consult the members of the provincial board on the legislative measures that would be required for the establishment, creation, and operation of the “Tiange Sa Park” at the provincial Capitol ground. tiange | page 11
