TEMPTING TEA HAMPERS THE ROSEWATER BAKERY

B

ased in the picturesque village of Pangbourne, The Rosewater Bakery creates and delivers indulgent hampers of freshly baked afternoon tea across Berkshire and the home-counties. Whether it’s for you to enjoy or a gift for friends, family, clients or colleagues, The Rosewater Bakery brings you all of the beautifully presented hand-made treats you’ll need to enjoy a delightful afternoon tea, anywhere you like. From hampers for two to catered events for over 100 guests, The Rosewater Bakery provides a beautiful selection of treats that can be tailored to suit any occasion. The Rosewater Bakery was founded by Carrie Hale in 2013 when she left her career as a chartered accountant to follow a life-long dream of running a bakery business. From living and working in Greater London for nearly 10 years, Carrie fell in love with the elegance and indulgence of beautiful afternoon teas from visiting hotels such as The Goring and The Landmark. Following a move back to Berkshire in 2011, Carrie wanted to share her passion for delicate sweet and savoury dishes, which led to the creation of The Rosewater Bakery. As a busy Mum to George and wife to Paul, Carrie has found the launch of The Rosewater Bakery a great help with the ever challenging juggle between home and career. There may have been more late nights recently than when Carrie was working on busy transactions in London, but a team effort in building and launching the business has made it an incredibly rewarding process! The next few months are expected to be an exciting time for the business. Plans are afoot to start sending products nationally, making it possible to send some of The Rosewater Bakery’s delightful treats to far away friends. A great new venture with the vintage accessories business Pretty Pieces Perfect Days will also see the launch of a beautiful Vintage Afternoon Tea package this autumn, which will provide all of the beautiful hand-made treats and vintage accessories you’ll need to cater for a wonderful celebration. For further details and to order directly online visit www.rosewaterbakery.co.uk or search for The Rosewater Bakery on Facebook.

LET’S TAKE IT NICE & EASY... INTERVIEW WITH XISCO AND LORENZO VILA FOUNDERS OF EASYBOATS.COM

Where did the inspiration for easyboats.com come from? We come from a family of seafarers and our grandfather, Lorenzo Vila, was well-known in Mallorca as a talented fisherman and a yacht captain during times of Mediterranean smuggling, so yachting and the sea is in our blood. Our grandfather used to take us sailing with him from a very early age. At times it was tough, being out on the water for ten hours at a time, but it only served to develop our passion for the sea. When we left school, we were full of enthusiasm for life and already knew that we wanted to start a business of our own together. It had to be something we were both passionate about, so yachting was the obvious choice. After doing some market research in 1989, we worked on a simple business plan to see if this was feasible. Then with some help from our mother, we bought three boats and founded Nice & Easy Boats SL – yacht charter, sales and management. At the time we were the only motor yacht charter company in Mallorca. Our competitors were only chartering sailing boats, so we had no business model to take as a reference point. It was quite a challenge. We had to learn most things the hard way and come up with solutions as problems arose. For example there wasn’t even an insurance policy in existence to cover motor yacht charter, so

we had to persuade a company to make one exclusively for Nice & Easy Boats SL. With no industry data to draw on when we did our business plan, it quickly became apparent that there was an even bigger demand for motor yacht charter than we initially expected. At the end of our first year we knew we had a success on our hands with a full return on our investment. So why the name change? Before Nice & Easy Boats was set up, we had a boat that we mainly used for water-skiing. She was a deep red-coloured 18-foot Fletcher with a powerful white 140hp Johnson outboard and we named her ‘Nice & Easy’. We loved that boat, spending so much time with her, that when it came to registering our business we decided to name it after our beloved speedboat, hence Nice & Easy Boats SL. When we came to put a website together with the help of our friend and web-developer, Elena Vera, we realised a shorter name would work better for our domain name so decided upon easyboats.com. Incidentally, the deep red colour for the logo also comes from the Fletcher. People always ask if we have anything to do with easyJet, but not at all. Any likeness is purely coincidental. Remember, easyJet launched in 1995, six years after us, so perhaps

“She was a deep red-coloured 18-foot Fletcher with a powerful white 140hp Johnson outboard and we named her ‘Nice & Easy’”

they were inspired by our name, font and corporate colours! What makes easyboats.com so special? Without doubt, our integrity. This is something we apply to our lives both as individuals and businessmen. As 19th Century American Writer, Napoleon Hill, once wrote “When you are able to maintain your own highest standards of integrity – regardless

of what others may do – you are destined for greatness.” But at easyboats we measure our success first and foremost by client satisfaction, and never by income or prestige. Our biggest reward is making our clients happy through the friendly, professional services we offer, whether that’s a memorable charter holiday or taking ownership of a dream yacht. ALEXANDER JAMES INTERIORS INTRODUCES ITS DEBUT FURNITURE COLLECTION

W

ith inspiration from the glamour of 1930s Hollywood, the new furniture collection from Alexander James Interiors has been designed to bring refinement, quality and timeless elegance into every home. Beautiful design detailing and fine craftsmanship are the hallmarks of the new range with each piece finished with a metal embossed tag bearing the Alexander James Interiors logo and the quality goes hand in hand with design. Developed by Creative Director, Stacey Sibley, the fifteen living room and seven bedroom pieces are manufactured from Rosewood and give a subtle nod to the 1920s & 30s with details that are evocative of the opulence and glamour of the period. These include Antique Eglomised mirror, chrome detailing and a distinctive sunburst pattern. Each upholstered piece is crafted by a UK workshop that has a heritage in fine furniture making spanning more than half a century and creates furniture for some of the world’s most renowned brands. The upholstery is hand-sprung with eight-way coiled seats for the ultimate in luxury, comfort and durability. The Gatsby Wing Chair With a contemporary twist on the traditional wing chair, the Gatsby boasts an impressively high back rest with fluted detailing. Designed to give real grandeur and statement, the individual chrome stud detailing boldly highlights the shape of this chair. The Coco Chaise The Coco Chaise is a timeless piece. Sat upon a solid mahogany base, the backrest and high arm are fluted to accentuate the graceful curves. Comfort is absolute with individually hand tied coil springs to support feather wrapped foam cushions.

The Garbo Dressing Table The beautiful Garbo dressing table boasts an exquisite eglomisé antiqued mirror top. A combination of rosewood veneer soft close drawers and Deco grey lacquer body creates an eye-catching contrast. All drawers are lined in faux suede and the top two drawers have compartments for small storage. The Garbo dressing table has been shortlisted for an award within the product design category in the International Design and Architecture Awards.

The Hayworth Bedside Table The Hayworth bedside has understated glamour with rosewood veneer and eglomisé antiqued mirror top. The top drawer has a pull tray and ample storage is provided by two faux suede lined drawers. Alexander James Interiors was chosen by luxury house developer, Millgate, to design the interiors for the show home at one of its recent developments in Ascot. Westbrook House, located within a stone’s throw of the popular Ascot Racecourse, was developed on the site of late Rita Hayworth’s mansion. With the American actress being an iconic figure in the period that inspired the furniture collection, it seemed only fitting to include some of the 1930s styled furniture in the luxury show apartment.

DELICIOUS CLAM CHOWDER SELBY KERSHAW OF THE GREAT FOOD COMPANY

T

he nights are closing in, snuggle up with a warming and delicious Clam Chowder! But what variety do you choose – they range from a tomato broth based Manhattan Chowder, to the cream based thicker Rhode Island Chowder with copious amounts of pepper. Such is the competitiveness from state to state that in Maine, it is illegal to have tomatoes in your chowder!! At TGFC HQ we always opt for the traditional & best (in our opinion) New England Chowder, claimed to be created as clams were plentiful & a source of cheap protein.

COSY UP IN STYLE THIS AUTUMN BY FOUNDER & STYLIST OF THE WARDROBE INSIDER, KATIE POWELL

I

n the world of fashion and style, autumn/winter tends to be one of those seasons that many people prefer; we can wrap up, boot up and forget about trying to camouflage those bits we may not feel so comfortable with. However, the down side to cocooning ourselves in those oversized jumpers is that we often forget about making that extra bit of effort to feel our best in our clothes and adopting the same rules that we would when all is on show in the summer season. Is your winter wardrobe still complementing your body shape? Are the colours that you’re wearing still illuminating your skin tone and hair colour? And do you feel amazing in every single piece of clothing that gets an outing? The answer should be yes to all of those, so let’s take a look at how you can feel comfortable and amazing this autumn/winter but in a true style that works for you and your shape! The most glamourous addition to your autumn wardrobe should most definitely be the cape coat or shawl cape; super cosy and easy to wear, the cape was showcased all over the catwalks, from Burberry, Sacai and Issa and conjures up wintery images of long country walks and pub lunches by the fire. If you are opting for a

cape coat, then invest in a classic neutral (navy, camel, black) that will complement any outfit but if you prefer to experiment with a shawl cape as a wraparound scarf instead, then look at checks, velvet and patchwork detail. Your coat is there to keep you warm but it must also complement your silhouette. If your legs are your slimmest area, wear the cape coat as is and team with a leather look or high gloss black jeans

AUTUMN 2014 |  COUNTY CONCIERGE  | 19

“The most glamourous addition to your autumn wardrobe should most definitely be the cape coat or shawl cape; super cosy and easy to wear, the cape was showcased all over the catwalks, from Burberry, Sacai and Issa and conjures up wintery images of long country walks and pub lunches by the fire.” but if your waist is your best feature then use a belt over the top to cinch and define, one of a/w’s other key trends. Now we’ve fixed your coat, it’s all about what to wear underneath and this is really exciting when it comes to this season as it’s all about layering! Instead of picking pieces just for purpose, try picking each piece because of its wow factor! Material, texture, print and colour are all important factors and will be the difference between feeling fine in your outfit and feeling amazing! Look out for embellished knitwear which are adorned with jewels and gems and to glam up a casual look, opt for a sweater which has detail around the neckline so you don’t have to wear statement jewellery and pair down with jeans and your favourite Nikes or Converse. This glam way of casual dressing will be complemented by the colour palette for the season which is all about old meets new; folk gypsy style revived in a versatile set of tones for everyone. Like with any colour, think about where you’re wearing it on your outfit as the fairer the colour and skin tone, the further down the body you need to wear it. Think olives, rusty reds, warm oranges, deep pinks and romantic purples; craft couture at its best! The way to wear this trend in a casual, weekend walk type way is via the dress; long, luxe and belted (if needed) and teamed with knee high boots, an oversized snood and your favourite jacket. The shape of dress will depend on your body shape but use folk accessories to jazz it up if you feel more comfortable in a block colour! And to complete your autumn winter wardrobe, stay warm through and through with cashmere thermals; leggings, long sleeve t-shirts and socks; yes they are more pricey but the cost per wear will be worth it!! If you fancy hearing more about how to make your autumn wardrobe work for you, then get in touch with personal stylist, The Wardrobe Insider to organise a bespoke style experience that complements you, your lifestyle and your budget! AN AWFULLY BIG ADVENTURE WITH 2CV ADVENTURES

O

nce in a while a completely new concept arrives and 2CV Adventures is just one of those. Born out of a desire to bring the fun back into motoring, 2CV Adventures has 16 ‘tin snails’ prepared and ready for a series of events and corporate occasions. Based in Cranleigh, Surrey, 2CV Adventures has already provided the fun and adventure for a 50th Birthday party in Southern Spain for a city executive from Lymington, as well as a week’s driving for key ‘mixologists’ from Grand Marnier. Starting in Spain, Grand Marnier used the occasion to thank its top barmen and brand ambassadors as well as a selling tool to introduce them to new vintages and marketing ideas. The trip included a three day visit to the Grand Marnier Chateau near Cognac. For the 50th Birthday Party, 2CV Adventures, created the route and provided roadbooks, selected and booked the hotels, organised the lunches and evening meals, a variety of entertainment, the cars

and support plus some competition to give the event an edge. Setup by John Brigden and Toby Kilner in January this year 2CV Adventures introduces the ultimate ‘Arrive and Drive’ concept where everyone has the same spec vehicle in identical colours to add to the fun and spectacle. John Brigden told us “While the 2CV was once a symbol of an alternative way of life, it has developed into an icon of the quirky French motoring of the period. Its eccentric styling, unique ride and minimal interior have made it the personification of the long lost age of motoring simplicity and innocence when driving brought a smile to your face. We want to introduce this to a new generation of drivers who spend their motoring lives in push button, electronics aided, padded ‘cells’, which are as far removed from the real world as possible. With the 2CV you not only enjoy driving again but are fully engaged in the experience. “The 16 vehicles are available for corporate events, incentive

weekends, team building and parties where we can provide a slalom course challenge where a blind-folded driver has to negotiate a course with only the instructions from their co-driver to follow.” This entertainment challenge was successfully rolled out at the recent Silverstone Classic Weekend where more than 200 people took part in the ‘Tin Snail Challenge’. Six cars were also used to transport the racing drivers and their key team members around the Silverstone circuit. Each car was equipped with an autograph book which will be auctioned for charity later this year. As well as providing the corporate and incentive events, 2CV Adventures organises its own tours and rallies, from a long weekend tour of Picardy in northern France and a Beaujolais Rally to week-long tours plus a two week proper rally in Morocco. RISE OF THE ÜBER-GARAGE BY PAUL COCKERHAM

10

to 20 years ago garages were simply functional structures, housing not only cars but garden machinery and tools as well as items you fully intended to throw out, but never did. You could say just glorified storage. Now however they have become much more important features within the whole buying equation as people’s passion for cars has increased unbelievably in recent times. They have become precious commodities, assets which have appreciated so dramatically that they must be protected and loved at all costs. It is not surprising that these car enthusiasts need something a little more than a draughty store to house them. And so the luxurious car show room or über-garage has been born.

We have recently launched a fabulous new house built by Octagon onto the open market on the Wentworth golfing Estate called Crossacres. Being in the green belt, square footage above ground is limited, so all the leisure facilities including the large spacious garaging is in the lower ground floor. This is approached over a large sweeping resin bonded ‘heated’ driveway. The garaging itself extends to over 1800 sq. ft. which also has underfloor heating, panelled walls, an array of mirrors and great lighting to show off the cars in their best light. A MOTIVATIONAL HOME GYM FROM MOTIVE8

N

ick Sadler is a director at motive8, one of the country’s leading gym and spa specialists. He is in charge of coordinating motive8’s strategic direction and expansion, heads up the gym & spa area of the business and operates as a senior consultant on gym & spa projects around the globe. Born and bred in Yorkshire, Nick studied at Brunel University in West London. He spent over 5 years working in the US where he was struck by the number of businesses and homes that had ‘amenity spaces’ with gym and spa facilities. On returning to the UK in 1998 he realised that this was a big gap in the UK market and set up motive8. He has now taken motive8 from a two-man personal training company to a global health and fitness enterprise employing over 100 staff. Nick has over 16 years of experience in the health & fitness industry, specialising in all aspects of creating functional and aesthetic gym & spa facilities. His expertise includes; design, equipment supply, project management of the installation and then strategy and implementation of maintenance and management services once the facility is ready for use. Projects range from 1,000sqft gyms in corporate head offices or residential dwellings to large scale gym and spa facilities in boutique luxury hotels and celebrity houses. Thanks to Nick’s entrepreneurial skills motive8 has gym & spa contracts with numerous big players in the property industry including; Barratt Homes, Berkeley Capital, St. George, St. James, Northacre, Urban Splash, City & Docklands and Notting Hill Housing. Nick has also brokered maintenance and management

contracts with Mainstay, Rendall & Rittner, Barratt Residential Asset Management, Premier Estates and Harrods Estates. He also provides consultancy for Berkeley Homes, Barratt London, Quintain, Chelsfield, Linklaters, the award-winning Dormy House Hotel, Computershare, Medical Protection Society, Orthocare (UK), Lowell and CTG. PLAY IT AGAIN JOE THE PARTY PIANOS EXPERIENCE

W

hy not give your special event the wow factor with Party Pianos shows playing live requests from you and your guests. From Christmas Parties, Celebration Dinners and Awards Ceremonies to Weddings, Product Launches and Summer Galas, they will ensure that your guests are entertained with fun and memorable shows. Party Pianos is the brainchild of entrepreneur Joe Lee from Chertsey. It is the ultimate live request show with two ‘duelling pianos’ vying with each other to play the requests better, faster, and sometimes louder than each other. Although he studied for a Business with Law Degree at Kingston University music has always been a passion for Joe and he decided that for him it was time to devote himself to finding a career that would allow him to do something that he loved so much. Having worked for some years in Holland, New Orleans and Las Vegas, Joe had experienced the duelling pianos phenomenon and was very excited to find out if this would translate to the UK market. On returning to Surrey he found that the music business was far from vibrant with very few gigs and little live work for musicians. No-one was running shows like the duelling pianos events that he had seen in the States and Holland so in 2011 he decided to take the plunge and set up Party Pianos. Since then Party Pianos has gone from strength to strength in this country and abroad. Joe has run events in Spain, Norway, Egypt and New York. In May this year Party Pianos launched in Dubai playing at the tallest hotel in the world, the JW Marriott

Marquis. This month they are playing at the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The sky’s the limit! Joe’s enviable list of clients and events include Royal Ascot, US Embassy, Olympic Torch Relay, Skyfall Premiere, Pandora, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, BP, BMW and Coca-Cola. County Concierge MD Sue Seakens first met Joe Lee at the Leisure, Luxury & Lifestyle Show at Sandown in 2011 and was impressed not only by his performing skills but also his business acumen. She has been recommending the Party Pianos experience to clients ever since “You can be assured that Party Pianos are as professional as they are fun. As part of their event management they conduct free site surveys of the event venue, then deliver and setup all the equipment needed to perform...sound, lighting, music...you can leave it all to them”. Joe has turned his passion into a flourishing business and encourages others to do the same. “If you have an idea and believe in it you should give it a go”. In addition to his very hectic business life and his passion for songwriting Joe makes time each year to learn a new skill or to take a new challenge. He has learnt how to scuba dive and is currently taking flying lessons. In 2012 he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the White Lodge Centre for disabled children and their parents in Chertsey. Get in touch with Joe and his team on: 020 333 20033 or book@partypianos.com Follow them on Facebook www.facebook.com/PartyPianos and Twitter@PartyPianos Or visit them at www.PartyPianos.com

A LUXURY ‘UPSTAIRS EXPERIENCE’ WITHOUT THE ADDED DRAMA

T

o celebrate the return of Downton Abbey to our television screens, Secret Escapes recently released their Top Ten ‘Downton-esque Deals’ on stately home escapes, all offering guests a luxury ‘upstairs experience’ without the added drama. Here we feature some of our favourites from the list. (Regular County Concierge readers may remember that we featured the real Downton Abbey aka Highclere Castle in Issue 1/2013 as a perfect wedding venue) 1. Rushton Hall Hotel and Spa: Kettering, Northamptonshire The Grade I listed Rushton Hall Hotel and Spa is so grand and packed full of original features that guests could easily imagine they’re living the Downton Abbey dream. The magnificent 16th century building is surrounded by 25 acres of beautiful grounds, with a large lake, croquet lawn and tennis court, making for the perfect country escape. Having been awarded four coveted red stars and three rosettes for dining, the hotel itself features a gourmet restaurant, a full sized billiard table and the Stable Yard Spa - which has its own indoor swimming pool, fitness room and indulgent range of treatments on offer.

2. Walton Hall: Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire Constructed as the ancestral home of the Mordaunt family, the 16th-century Walton Hall served for centuries as a high society residence before its recent multi-million pound restoration, which has transformed it into a luxury hotel with 65 acres of parkland. It boasts the two time AA rosette awarded Moncreiffe Restaurant, in addition to a spa and wellness centre, which includes a fitness suite, aerobics studio, indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Walton Hall is the perfect spot for enjoying a leisurely getaway full of countryside walks and provides an excellent base for exploring nearby Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick. 3. Danesfield House Hotel & Spa: Marlow-On-Thames, Buckinghamshire A turreted white country house framed by crisp landscaped gardens, the Danesfield House Hotel & Spa sits pretty in the Buckinghamshire countryside, just a few miles from Marlow and the regal town of Henley-on-Thames. With two restaurants and a multi-award-winning spa, this cool retreat has an indoor pool, a gym and a range of luxury treatments. The restaurant is run by chef Billy Reid, and the Orangery has a gourmet menu to rival Mrs Patmore’s culinary delights, with spectacular views down to the River Thames. 4. Ston Easton Park: Ston Easton, Somerset A Grade I listed building dating back to the 18th Century, Ston Easton sits quietly on a 36-acre estate in the Mendip Hills, in sleepy Somerset. Classical landscaped gardens feature a crumbling grotto fountain, a historic ice house, romantic Palladian bridges, an original Saloon and a scattering of ancient wells. This is a place designed around indulgence, with spacious, elegant bedrooms, in-room spa treatments and the celebrated Sorrel Restaurant which uses fresh ingredients straight from the Victorian kitchen garden and fine vintage wines.

ULTIMATE RICH LIST OF DESTINATIONS REVEALED

T

he rich and famous are seeking something truly different when they travel abroad. From Arctic fishing to Amazonian treks, secluded beach retreats to monastic hospitality, Brown + Hudson (www.brownandhudson.com) reveals this year’s ultimate rich list of destinations.

TROMSØ, NORWAY Nestled within the Arctic Circle is the small but vibrant Norwegian city of Tromsø, the country’s top luxury destination. In the winter, Tromsø is the perfect peaceful retreat, with the more adventurous traveller able to enjoy bespoke ice camps and polar bear spotting. Once the summer months arrive, deep sea fishing for giant cod and halibut on the nearby island of Sørøya is exhilarating. PATAGONIA The stunning and vast landscapes of Patagonia offer arguably the most breathtaking experience in South America. Spanning Chile and Argentina, ultimately remote and brimming with flora and fauna, the region is prime for the undaunted explorer. Fly fishing and wildlife tracking adventures from properties like Awasi are essential. Top of the list for adrenaline junkies however, is heli-hiking to explore previously inaccessible locations. PERU For a mixture of culture, exclusivity and adventure, many lucky travellers jet to Lima. As Latin America’s culinary capital, there are opportunities to cook and dine with celebrity chefs. Venturing out of the metropolis, taking a helicopter over private ruins and meeting indigenous Amazonian communities are unforgettable experiences. Equally, a private trek through the Andes with National Geographic explorers serves to underline the area’s incredible natural diversity. The super fortunate may even get the chance to see unique shamanic rituals first hand. PUGLIA, ITALY Forming the heel of Italy, Puglia is the other European destination to earn a place in the rich list. Naturally, the food is exquisite, the pace of life relaxing and the surrounding area alluring. The Adriatic and Ionian seas provide some of the most stunning swimming waters along a coastline marked with the history of centuries of foreign invaders. For travellers looking for a plush break just a couple of hours’ flight time from the UK, Southern Italy has so much to give. BRAZIL Escaping the buzz of the World Cup and forthcoming Olympics, Brazil remains a place to see and be seen. The most exclusive accommodation can be reached via private jet along the coast, with hillside villas, private schooners and designer hotels aplenty. It is travellers who tour the secret beaches and peninsulas of hideaways such as Paraty and Buzios who discover the gems in Brazil’s crown.

KENYA The ancestral home of Safari, Kenya is home to much more than just the “Big Five”. Forging a cultural connection with the Samburu people and venturing further south to the Borana Conservancy are at the heart of what Kenya has to offer. Secluded lodges and camps such as Richard’s camp in the Masai Mara and the ultra-exclusive Sirai House are top of the list for wealthy visitors. UGANDA Looking beyond the traditional safari, neighbouring Uganda is the source of rarer wildlife experiences. A morning trek into the jungle to seek out a band of the country’s 880 mountain gorillas is something only a lucky few will ever witness. Furthermore, meeting expert conservationists from the World Wide Fund for Nature is a privilege which offers valuable insights into these incredible and endangered creatures and how we can help to protect them. MOZAMBIQUE New on the rich list of destinations is Mozambique. Swimming with cultural heritage, the most luxurious properties are actually found offshore on the Bazaruto Archipelago. With the rest of southern Africa providing opportunities for more active pursuits, a private island serves up the stunning setting and tranquility required at the end of an extended trip through the continent. BHUTAN Each year only a few thousand of the most fortunate travellers enter the mountain kingdom of Bhutan. Its remote and pristine borders are the gateway to a land of welcoming Buddhist monks, and a gentle trek up to the Taktsang Palphug Monastery reveals a completely remarkable way of life. Despite luxury travel in the area being in its infancy, there is no shortage of luxury accommodation, with the Amankora hotel being a favoured spot. VIETNAM With much more to offer than just its delicious cuisine, Vietnam is a country brimming with Southeast Asian energy. Its bustling cities are driven by a new economy and are complemented by pristine beaches, the limestone islands of Halong Bay and Hue’s ancient tombs. For opulent accommodation in Hanoi, the French colonial-style Hotel Metropole near Hoan Kiem Lake and the magnificent Opera House is the choice pick. If you are interested and would like a hand-crafted trip, bespoke to you, to one of the above destinations, please call +44 (0) 203 358 0110 or visit www.brownandhudson.com for more information.

MAGICAL MATCHMAKING BY MARILENA NARBONA

S

wann International was founded by Marilena Narbona, an Italian born international businesswoman, who has drawn on her years of personal and professional experience to create Swann’s truly unique offering. She is the driving force behind her dedicated team, and works closely with them, wherever they are in the world, to deliver an exceptional service to their clients. Marilena has built a successful career connecting professional people all over the world at the highest level. Time and again she has seen that business success does not necessarily equal personal success and no matter how much she has helped clients achieve professionally, without the love and support of a special someone to share their life, all the success in the world feels hollow. With her natural skill for finding the right connections for her clients Marilena brings a wealth of understanding and experience to her role at Swann International. “I know what it’s like to be focused and passionate about my career and raise a family at the same time. I also know what it is like having to start afresh, pick yourself up after heart break and loss. Let’s face it, no matter how successful we are…love is all we really want; to love and to know that someone loves us.” So what makes Swann International different? It is very simple - they literally do the work for their clients. Instead of sending them on date after date, which can be a time consuming, emotionally draining and an often frustrating and ineffective process, Swann take the stress and fear out of dating by only introducing their clients to people who they believe are suitable for them. Ultimately…to love and be loved is what Swann International strive to achieve for their clients. The care and attention at every stage of this very personal service is un-paralleled. Marilena’s instinctive desire and ability to help people, her warmth, integrity, passion and vision are clearly apparent in everything she does and lie at the very heart of Swann International. “We are aware that our clients take on a big commitment, emotionally and financially, when they come to us. We know that they are prepared to invest in their future happiness and we do not take this lightly. In return we give them our total commitment, professionally and personally, in helping to find their soul mate”
