PRE-SEASON (SUMMER) PROGRAM This pre-season program is certain to be a show piece that will help you gain exposure to a wide audience. Not only will it be handed out at the 6th Annual Opera al Fresco, at the Devonian Botanic Garden on June 19, but the vast majority of the programs will be mailed out to the Opera’s many subscribers, donors and sponsors.

EDMONTON OPERA 2015/2016 SEASON

A tantalizing plot bubbles below the light-hearted, waltzing melodies of The Merry Widow. Everyone is after the widow’s money, and comic attempts to marry her off to the “right” man during the Belle Époque in Paris culminate in a raucous can-can at Chez Maxim’s.

A dusty town centre and the clamour of the bullring come to the Jubilee stage in the form of a new production for Edmonton Opera’s Carmen, the epitome of scandal. Filled with Spanish heat and passion, Bizet’s work confronts audiences with all the emotions of the human condition, escalating to an inevitable murder.

In Maria Stuarda, the lives of Queen Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots, are interwoven in a desperate struggle for political power. Taking liberties with history, Donizetti charted the events that led to Mary’s execution, including the two formidable divas dueling over the tenor. Needless to say, sparks fly in the Alberta premiere of this bel canto opera.

Edmonton Opera Program Advertising Advertising in the Edmonton Opera Program is a wonderful way to heighten your exposure and achieve greater visibility in the arts community, and specifically to fans of the opera. With nine performances taking place in the 2015/2016 season, your audience reach is well over 25,000 people. All performances take place at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, which seats approximately 2,400 people. PLUS advertising in the Pre-Season Program, distributed in June to the Opera’s many subscribers, donors and sponsors, as well as at Opera al Fresco, you will reach an even wider audience. Due to the high quality of the program, and the demographics of Opera attendees, the Edmonton Opera Program has the highest pickup rate of any arts program in Edmonton.
