Project type: Atratya : A portal to lost world , Dwarka

Humans have shared their thoughts in the form of narratives and stories, These narratives might be authentic or may not be, but it is the belief of a person/ community .Every place has its own stories and a part of a bigger story. Out of many stories, Dwarka is one of them. Where once stood the mythical kingdom of Krishna, an ancient land that blurs the boundaries between Myth and facts.

I have been witness to the beginning and conclusion of the universe on many occasions. My essence, in the form of water, has seen numerous incarnations of Vishnu from Matsya to Krishna. I have beheld majestic, resplendent fortresses in Dwarka as well as debris and ruins that were once the Yadava Empire. I have observed

different cultures exchanging wares like beads and ceramics. From small shrines built to venerate Krishna that were destroyed by invaders, later to be reconstructed by loyal followers, to one of the most sacred sites where Vishnu comes to rest - these are but some of my experiences over the ages.

Ocean’s Narratives...

Once due to heavy rains I had incarnated in Vrindavan in form of floods destroying all the land and things built on it. Then I saw him again but now he held the mountain in little finger and people had taken shelter below it for 7 days. Once the rain had stopped I calmed down then I saw all villagers feeding krishna all the meals he missed on those 7 days and nights

I live in form of milk in Gokul , just as the gods churned me and got amrut similarly the gopis here churn milk to get butter. They value it and keep it safe and far away from krishna but he steals it and make gopis run behind him getting away from mundane daily chores. Gopis used to complaint this to Maa Yashoda but then he used play hide and seek with her.

My friend Chandra used to tell me the gopis in Vrindavan used to sneak out in dark and walk away from the settlement into the forest, where the laws of human society doesn’t exist. No one could see them. The trees used to form a screen and there they used to play rass with Krishna. I wonder when he will perform his rass on my shore.

I still remember the day when he promised Gomti that he would come two times a day to her spend time playing his flute as he used to on the bank of yamuna river under kadamba tree. When he arrives I can’t control the joy he brings, I raise my water level and cross my boundaries, just to have a glimpse of him.

Which Krishna?

Once Maa Yashoda caught Krishna eating mud, she asked him to open his mouth and in his mouth, she saw me in my vast ever-expanding Akashaganga form. She was shocked and couldn’t believe her eyes, How can the whole universe be inside my son’s mouth? He is Narayan he is Virat Infinite in finite form.

At the end of every yuga, I get furious, stormy and I swallow entire landmass creating chaos everywhere and then I see him, in his bal roop floating on a banyan leaf laughing, playing with his toes radiating bliss all around. Looking at him at all his glory makes me calm and brings life back on land.

Serial vision from portal of present to portal of past

This project intends to create a series of transition spaces that take you back into the mythical Dwarka. It allows a person to experience the spaces which are associated with Krishna and Dwarka. The landscape narrates the narrates various events which are associated with Krishna in different stages of his life and eventually end up in the vast endless ocean. The Idea of experiencing the Infinite through the finite is explored through landscape done at the edge of the site. Which blurs the gap between land and Sea. The city’s narrative is read through a section exploring the relationship between what’s above the land and below it, what is above water, and what’s below it, between land and sea. The 7 port cities have lost to the waves of the sea and time is experienced through a series of light towers that reaches the sky and ground below it. The Design is seen as a path, portal, and mainly as an experiential space that connects with the sunken city and experiences the temporal aspect of the city through the cycles of tides. Dwarka or Dwaravati Means the door to eternal bliss the project becomes a doorway to all the past Dwarkas.

Yashoda played with one who is smaller than an atom and one who is bigger than the biggest.

The ocean is vast, and infinite to the human eye, as finite humans it becomes difficult to experience infinite By breaking the vast ocean into smaller parts one can experience the water in different ways.

Project type: Nrha (Craft and Cultural Museum, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru)

The studio encouraged us to look into sustainable vernacular construction techniques and materials in and around the site. The studio also encouraged not to use any Non-sustainable materials. Due to the pandemic situation, the studio encouraged us to choose our own site and the program which the site demands. The site chosen is in Malleshwaram, which has a rich cultural heritage and is also famous for its commercial edge. Due to rapid Globalization and industrialization lots of commercial outlets have popped up in the Sampige Raste, pushing all the small scale artists away from the main streets. The project is a craft and cultural museum which also provides a platform for these artists to showcase their art and creates a market for them.

Project type: Studio Apartment for Satyajit Ray (Site: Mr. Park’s house, Parasite)

The Studio began with watching ‘Parasite’ directed by Bong Joon-ho. The set of the movie took the role of Site and the client was Satyajit Ray. The Brief was to create a quarantine home for Satyajit Ray for a year (temporal). After which the Site would be used normally as before.

Which sets constraints to not build and destruct any permanent Architectural element of the existing in site. Followed by a Branding exercise, Designing Logo, Business cards and Social media handles.

Indianstory Studio Internship 29

Ittina Residence is a landscape and architecture-focused project, which follows Indian aesthetics. The garden is designed with Vrindavan as a concept, “van” means the forest landscape is done in a very similar manner so that it looks natural and not man-made. The design of the garden was inspired by Vrindavan, where there is no sign of concrete or other man-made objects.

6000 miles to isle of man is a onestop place for all the bikers and riders’ needs. The space is going to be one of the outlets across India. The palace also hosts a lot of events for the biker/ riding community

Team Members: Nishadh Aafrin (Project Head)

Project type: 6000 km to the isel of Man (Commercial Interior)

In this space, we’ve created a commercial space that’s designed to be customized, so it can be used for multiple events. You can rearrange the space to meet your needs, and you’ll have plenty of storage units in case you need them. We’ve also made sure that the design is built with marketing strategies in mind, so you’ll get more sales out of your investment!

One of the most important features of this space is its central bike display. This temporary structure can be moved and changed into a stage

at any time, so you’re able to adapt it to your needs as well. For example, it could be used as a cool backdrop for an event on the weekend; or maybe it would make an awesome venue for a concert during the week. Whatever the case may be, there are lots of possibilities!

The flooring throughout this space is made up of different materials that give it an authentic garage feel—from grimey concrete floors and graffiti-covered walls to metal scaffolding and plywood walls covered in illustrations of bikes on the road.

Team Members: Nishadh Aafrin (Project Head)

Project type: Grand Estancia (Hospitality)

A hotel and restaurant in Selam, Tamil Nadu, Hotel Grand estancia is well known for its renowned cuisine and hospitality. As an extension of the existing structure, they wanted to add an outdoor dining and bar counter, where parties can be held. The design is done keeping Floral/ Tropical contemporary aesthetics in mind. The area is divided into segments, poolside seating, Bar counter, live kitchen, and Garden seating.

The design features fresh greenery with a touch of traditional Indian flair. The poolside section is designed to be more laid back and casual while the bar counter is designed for more formal events. The garden seating area is also designed to give guests a sense of privacy so they can relax and enjoy their time at the restaurant without being disturbed by unwanted noise from other areas within the hotel grounds!

Area: 14.2 Acre

14 acres of land have been developed into plots with other amenities, such as parks, clubhouses, cycle tracks, resting points, and pause points. The site is inspired by the existing mango grove in this plot, where we’re trying to retain as many trees as possible and replant them if needed. hoping to create a niche in nature for the community.
