M.Arch Thesis Exploring group housing with respect to changing social and economic factors Developers are building houses to fit maximum people and earn maximum profit. In future, these unhealthy housings will probably result in a sad and unsatisfied community. Similar to a situation, where employees are to be kept happy for a better outcome. Housing is a dwelling where people live for some time or for-ever, this needs to be given a good thought to avoid social breakdown.

Unit Combinations 490 units were proposed by the Chandigarh Hosuing Board. There was a lack of interest to participate in the Demand Survey by people of the city because of its high pricing. The intent of this project is to look at housing with a different persepective.

B.Arch Thesis Crematorium Cremation ground is defined as a space of disposing of the human dead body. It has components like conventional pyre cremating system, alternatives to that like electric and gas crematoriums and burial grounds which cater to various religious beliefs. Architecturally speaking, everything and anything about how we perceive death start from when we visit the cremation grounds/burial grounds/ towers of silence or gulistans. Hence, space is responsible for the perception. This thesis aims to focus on these neglected civic amenities.

Urban Design Neighbourhood Market Redesign along V4 Chandigarh Neighbourhod Market along V4 in Sector 40, redesigned as an Urban design sustainable project. The proposal included connecting the green spaces, defining the traffic according to different speeds. Sunken plaza connects the two garden sections and revitalising. Generating a pond and proposing air purifiers around.

Urban Design Rethinking Urban Village - Kajheri As a sub part of a bigger project of designing proposed Vikas Marg, which was divided into parcels and one of which was sector 43 and an urban village Kajheri. Positioning of such high traffic and busy places of high density with respect to its interdependancy.

Layers of a house Public - streets and pathways ---fence--Semipublic - garden ---walls--Private - house Just like a house, we behave like these spaces. We hold the best and strongest part of us on our facades, keeping our fences high. Letting selected people into our gardens and just few into our houses. Melbourne

Chitra cinema is on one prime location in Amritsar. It has come nearly to its end and will soon be demolished. There is going to be a mall on this site and it might give Amritsar a futuristic look as they say. I don’t say this building needs to be conserved because it cannot be, it’s way too damaged or say the building is on its death bed. Probably like people we should let building go. Masroor temple is a riddle for historians and archaeologists as its date of construction cannot be established from any credible source. There is no historical account as to when this temple was constructed. There is no inscriptional mention of the patronage or period of the construction on the temple itself. As per local legend, the temple was constructed by Pandavas during their exile. Over the years the temple has witnessed a transition from being a Shaivite temple to a Vaishnavite temple. The temple was originally a Shiva temple as evident from the fi gure of Shiva on the lintel of the main door and other parts of the structure. The temple complex was not discovered until 1875 CE. The complex suff ered major damage during the earthquake of 1905 CE. Further in 1914 CE, Masroor temples were taken up by the Archaeolog- ical Survey of India (ASI) for its conservation.

Journalism Published - An Architect’s Love Affair Published in an annual NASA Newsletter, Titled “An Architect’s Love Affair” Architectural Critisim on Vadara hotel Published on Issuu is an open-source - Mancini Crematorium - Funerary ghats of Banaras - Ashwani Kumar Crematorium Many articles are written without publishing. -About Architectural Perspectives -Sirhind -Dhanansu as a model village Creative Poetry Writing Written for a Play and a Short Film Also a Historical Citizen, for the 1947 partition archive by Standford Libraries.

A half burnt cigarette on the edge of his table, rising smoke creating an effect on the window and adding drama to the first monsoon rain. Drops fall on his unfinished plan. He looks down, the beautiful delicate little magnification leaves him awestruck, something like love at first sight it is. An architect falls in love a million times in his profession. Starting from his very first plan to the finest of his designs, it may be with one of his tracing sheets during his first submission or an eraser or a pencil or just a concept, eventually his love shows up in his every work. Putting it into the frame; an architect introduces himself to something new, becomes friends with it, love struck and then growing together, and writing a success story. This NASA; celebrating the ‘transformation’, I might take a different note on the theme part but let’s continue that way. This article is not just about taking the old and modern part and transforming into a new architectural era but in fact, it’s about the little transformation within. Love story appealed me the most. Why? May be that’s what came to my mind when I read transformation. A story written in my book, I put a sheet, scribbling everything, ideas rushing, concepts, technicalities, a mash up in my mind flowing in a rhythm of the song played on my phone. I put my energy, my time and the most important, my heart, leaving something of me, an impression of myself on the sheet. Design has been finalized, I boast, I am proud of myself but just a moment before my professor comes in, amazed he was I guess, borrows a cutter and there goes a sharp edged cut on my sheet. That moment! I wish I could eat him out. He gives me a look and I give a look to the sheet. Damn! I probably forgot to give some windows. I got upset, got up, pinned another sheet and started all over again, a new design in my hand and I manage to make him smile back at me. Almost each one of us has seen or experienced this situation. It’s about how little things transform you. It’s about how the professor’s act makes the student realize probably the dumbest of mistakes. It is about this little transformation. We choose to get big shot concepts, big change in our work and we fail to do so, may be little things like this should be of much more importance. Change from within, learning from mistakes and errors and getting it all together, through a phase and welcoming a new picture. It is this endless love and passion of an architect for his work that gives rise to wonders.

Interviewer For

Partition Archives (Interview)

Project done for the 1947 partition archive set up by the Standford University Libraries

It was an interview done to document the people before 1947. This interview was of Naresh Kumari residing in Amritsar, who was just 4 years old during the partition, Video documentation of her perceptions and ways of living and the experiences that took her through this journey of life were the main montives of the interview.

Director and Writer For

“Tu Hai” (Play)

Presented at a convention for the National association of students of architecture (NASA) Gwalior

It was a play designed inside the thought process of the lead character “astitva” (existence), in conversation with personifications of “duniya” (world), “khamoshi” (Silence), “Khud” (self) and “Sachai” (the truth). Eventually realising to exist in accordance with his own self and not living the truth of the world, but living and cherishing the truth of self.

Writer For

“Visa Lag Gya” (Punjabi Short Film)

Presented at annual university festival Jashan 2017 Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar

A short film with a brief of ‘visa’ was introduced. The story was built around it by the team, it was shot in silhouettes and no dialogues. At all the transitions, poetry was added as narration. The story is about a woman in Punjab waiting for her husband to take her along with him to the foreign land, but all her life she keeps on waiting for the visa and until her son expresses the desire to do the same.
