SUMOfc es un grupo de arte, cuyo arte y diseños están centrados en el ser humano, con la finalidad de encontrar nuevos métodos para comprender cómo los humanos influyen en su entorno. Creemos que “la especialización es para los insectos”, por eso nos encanta colaborar, hacer híbridos, entremezclar ideas y métodos. Nuestras instalaciones cuestionan, experimentan y exploran las ideas, tratando de cambiar actitudes preconcebidas, creando espacios para el diálogo, y para el intercambio de ideas, de maneras no convencionales.

‘Leonia’ is an ode (and a warning) to habitat destruction, climate change, and the destruction caused by economic pressure and greed. It’s a call for change, for mutualistic interactions that results in respect for the earth and each other.
‘Leonia’ es una oda (y una advertencia) a la destrucción del hábitat, el cambio climático y la destrucción causada por la presión económica y la codicia. Es un llamado al cambio, a interacciones mutualistas que resulten en respeto por la tierra y por los demás.

A DAWN FOR LEONIA
With Leonia, we are re-imagining a dystopian future – a world in which all natural resources have been depleted by the rampant manufacturing and waste production of centuries of industrialization.
In such a future, exhausted of raw materials, there is no production of plastic, metals, fuel, industrial chemicals or pharmaceuticals. Much of the population survives on re-processed objects, found objects and hybrids made from both. Memories are also constructs. For many, sunny skies, rain forests, wild animals and sunsets are only known through descriptions from the elders who can still remember them.
Based on Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities (1972), A Dawn for Leonia is an interpretation of a potential future where sunrises are no longer.

UN AMANECER PARA LEONIA
Leonia, imagina un futuro distópico: un mundo en el que todos los recursos naturales se han agotado por la fabricación desenfrenada y la producción de desechos por siglos de industrialización.
En este futuro, sin materias primas, no habrá producción de plástico, metales, combustibles, productos químicos industriales o productos farmacéuticos. Gran parte de la población sobrevive gracias a objetos reprocesados, objetos encontrados e híbridos elaborados a partir de ambos. Los recuerdos también son reconstruidos. Para muchos, los cielos soleados, las selvas tropicales, los animales salvajes y los atardeceres sólo se conocen a través de descripciones de la gente mayor que aún pueden recordarlos.
Basada en Ciudades invisibles (1972) de Italo Calvino, Un amanecer para Leonia es una interpretación de un futuro potencial donde los amaneceres ya no existen.

“In All Falsehood” is an immersive art installation designed to challenge our perception of space and self, drawing on the complex and multifaceted experiences of immigration.

Commissioning body: The Gladstone Hotel Toronto, Toronto, Canada
Based on our expericene as immigrants, ‘In all falsehood’, challenges our perception of space but also the perception of ourselves in an unknown context.
By creating a setting that appears both interior and confined yet feels vast and infinite, the installation aims to evoke a profound sense of dislocation and isolation. This project seeks to physically and psychologically manifest the emotions tied to the idea of displacement, particularly the sociocultural displacements experienced by immigrants.

Basado en nuestra experiencia como inmigrantes, ‘Con Toda falsedad’ desafía nuestra percepción del espacio pero también la percepción de nosotros mismos en un contexto desconocido.
Al crear un entorno que parece interior y confinado pero que se siente vasto e infinito, la instalación pretende evocar una profunda sensación de dislocación y aislamiento. Este proyecto busca manifestar física y psicológicamente las emociones ligadas a la idea de desplazamiento, particularmente los desplazamientos socioculturales experimentados por los inmigrantes.
