“I had heard that Sunderland’s courses in Pharmacy were really good, and having compared them to others I decided Sunderland was better as it was affordable and it would take less time to graduate. When I arrived in January it was cold! But having come from Newcastle I liked it a lot; it was green and natural and I found it easy to settle in. My teachers were really nice; they made sure every student understood what was being taught. I had 7-8 students in my class and the teacher gave us group work to discuss between each other, presentations and seminars, which was a beneficial way to learn as we have to research by ourselves. My English is much better than before I started the programme. I enjoy the University gym and used the library a lot, which is open 24 hours a day.”

It’s not a big city so I can focus more without getting distracted. We had lots of discussion in class and were encouraged to communicate. “I heard a lot about the UK and the quality of its education so decided I wanted to study here. Health Sciences and Wellbeing Studying Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Sunderland’s long-standing Pharmacy School was founded in 1921, making it one of the most well connected in the UK. Staff within the Department include qualified pharmacists and research scientists in biomedical science, chemistry, pharmacology, dermatology and clinical therapeutics. State-of-the-art facilities include The Living Lab – a unique, purpose-built environment, housing a mock hospital ward, pharmacy dispensary and examination rooms.
Studying Psychology Both of Sunderland’s BSc (Hons) courses are accredited by The British Psychological Society (BPS). Graduates who achieve at least a second class honours degree are eligible for the graduate basis for chartered membership of the BPS. This is the first step towards becoming a chartered psychologist. Psychology facilities include a cognitive laboratory which includes experimental cubicles, a computing laboratory containing 30 PCs equipped with psychology-specific software such as SPSS, fOCUS II Observation Psychology and PowerLab machines for measuring physiological responses such as heart rate, galvanic skin response and brain activity.

“My first impression of Sunderland was that the people were friendly and that it was nice and quiet. Good for study, but close enough to Newcastle for a night out. The ONCAMPUS induction week offered lots of activities to help us settle in and see the facilities of the University including CitySpace and the gym for example. Living in Sunderland itself is not too costly and good value for money, and I tend to spend my spare time with friends going out. My time at ONCAMPUS was a really good experience and set me up in a number of ways for progression to the University of Sunderland. Study skills such as research projects I had only done once before, helped show me exactly the sort of detail I should be including.”

“ONCAMPUS has good teachers with experience of how to manage international students who know how to make learning more interesting. The learning style is totally different; we had seminars (which I’ve never had in my home country) which meant we were prepared (for this style of teaching) before we went to university. The Murray Library based on the City Campus acts as a one-stop learning resource. Refurbished in 2012, the Library is spread across three floors and contains books, journals, computers and other learning and research resources. Prospect Building, at the riverside campus, also recently redeveloped, includes another Library, several catering areas and the David Goldman Informatics Centre – which houses over 300 computers in one space. The Gateway is one of the busiest buildings and is home to most of the University’s support services, including financial support, counselling, accommodation and health and well-being.

Chosen as a pre-Olympic training provider for the 2012 Olympic Games, CitySpace houses a vast six-badminton-court sports hall, 70-station fitness gym, strength and conditioning room, sports massage and injuries centre, an indoor climbing wall and social, catering and leisure space. Our Central Admissions team will review your application. We will send you an offer letter which will list any outstanding conditions. We will remove any conditions that have already been met. If we think the course is not right for you, we will suggest an alternative. If we have any queries about your application, we will contact you for further information.

To accept your place on the course you will need to meet all the remaining conditions, including payment of the deposit/ registration fee or proof of government sponsorship. We can only confirm your place once all conditions have been met, although once the deposit is paid we will hold a place for you. Please note that if you require a visa to study with us, you may need to provide additional evidence to comply with the visa regulations in the UK. These are the requirements of the government and not of ONCAMPUS. Your assistance in meeting these requirements is much appreciated.

Once you have paid your deposit and met all the conditions of offer, we will confirm your place and send you a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) or a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) if you do not need a CAS. If you need a visa, you will need to use your CAS/CoE to support your visa application. Please note a CAS can only be issued three months before the start of the course.

You will then need to apply for a visa if you require one to study in the UK. It is your responsibility to obtain a visa before you travel to join the course. If you do not have a valid visa, you will not be able to join the course so please make sure you apply as soon as possible. You will need to pay at least the first term’s tuition fees before you begin your programme of study at ONCAMPUS. You should arrive on the weekend before the arrival date; please check your CAS statement or CoE for further details. Newcastle is the closest international airport to ONCAMPUS Sunderland.
