Jason McCahan is now planning for another thunderous season at the Clinton County Speedway in Mill Hall as they prepare to celebrate their 35th anniversary this year As its promoter, McCahan schedules, manages, and serves as race announcer throughout the racing season RIDE caught up with McCahan, to find out what to expect for this year’s racing,
RIDE: When did you become the promoter?
McCAHAN:I returned as the promoter in 2019 I also promoted the speedway 2000-2002
RIDE: Can we expect some changes at the speedway with this new partnership?
McCAHAN: The fair has done a great job of reinvesting in the speedway. Since 2020, they have installed new bleachers and a new safety fence and, [in November 2022], they added over 800 tons of clay to resurface the speedway.
RIDE: Why is the speedway so significant to the area's drivers and fans?
McCAHAN: Dirt track racing is a staple in many communities in Central Pennsylvania Since 1989, Clinton County has offered weekly racing events and attracts drivers and fans from all across the Commonwealth as well as surrounding states Clinton County is a 1/3 mile dirt oval that allows for some of the area’s best short track racing
Fans love the family environment at the Clinton County Speedway We have fans of all ages Our general admission pricing makes it an affordable night of family entertainment.

RIDE: Do you have a race schedule yet for 2023?
McCAHAN: The schedule is currently in the works Our 35th anniversary season will begin on Sunday afternoon, April 16th at 1pm We will then switch to Friday evenings and compete through September.
RIDE: What cars race at the speedway?
McCAHAN: Sprint Cars and Late Models are our primary headlining divisions. We also feature the Pro Stocks, 270 Micro Sprints, 600 Micro Sprints and the 4 cylinder stock cars Most nights, it is a four or five division racing program. We also feature special races for various traveling racing groups
RIDE: What are the biggest attended races?
McCAHAN: The August 12th Phil Walter Classic is our most prestigious event The Pennsylvania Posse with their 410 cubic inch Sprint Car come to Clinton County annually for this event
We also run a two day show on the 4th of July weekend, 6/30 & 7/1, featuring the RaceSaver Sprint cars We will soon have an announcement on a few other special events for our 35th anniversary season
