God is in complete control...
In his National Convention speech two weeks ago, former President Donald Trump said: “I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of almighty God ” Many people say it was a providential moment.
What is providence? And what is the grace of God?
The doctrineof God’s providence declares that God is in complete control ofall things
He is sovereign overthe whole universe (Psalm 103:19); over every aspect of the physical world (Matthew 5:45); in total control of the affairs of all nations and all earthly rulers (Romans 13:10); all the way down to the intricate detail of every person ’ s life onearth(Psalm139).
Providence meansnothing escapes God’s attention, knowledge, or sovereign will
Nothing is left to happen by pure “chance”
The grace of God, on the other hand, has been accurately defined as: “God choosing to bless us rather thancurse us as our sin deserves. It is His benevolence tothe undeserving, His favour
toward the unworthy”.Dearreader, none of us “deserve” a long lifeof only health, wealth, and prosperity Rather, it is only by the free and undeserved grace of God that we areborn and have breath in this world
In love, God providentially sustains ever y one of us (Psalm 118:18) Place your faith and hope in almighty God; embrace His providential grace in your life while you stillhave breath to do so
