It's one of the most eagerly-anticipated superhero films of the year, in cinemas nationwide now with the star of the moment Brit actor Henry Cavil playing Superman â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Man of Steel.

ith his dashing good looks, taunt physic and brooding eyes it is easy to see why Cavill was picked for this role and why he has become the man on every womanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s mind especially given that rumours are rife that he will also star in the trilogy novel film Fifty Shades of Grey! Cavill has appeared in several notable films over the last few years and has become quite a popular name among Hollywood Directors starring in films such as Immortals, Red Riding Hood, Hellraiser: Hellworld, The Count of Monte Cristo, Tristan & Isolde and Stardust. He also played the role of Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, on the Showtime series The Tudors from 2007 until 2010 it was this series that brought him to the attention of the American bigwigs. Cavill is the fourth child (out of five) to Colin and Marianne. He was born on the Island of Jersey, UK. His father was a stockbroker while his mother worked in a bank as secretary staff. Cavill's primary schooling was from St. Michael's School, Saint Saviour. After preparatory days, he was sent to Stove School, Buckinghamshire. Right from the preparatory days, Cavill developed a strong urge for acting. In fact, he acted in several school plays right from the preparatory days. He had always wanted to become an actor. However, he is often quoted as saying that if life hadnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t offered him the chance to become an actor, then he would have joined the British army and served for his country.

Cavill’s first foray into films was the Kevin Reynolds' 2002 adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo, this was followed up with Laguna in 2001, a role in the BBC’s The Inspector Lynley Mysteries in 2002, was followed by the TV film Goodbye Mr. Chips in 2002. In 2003 he had a supporting role in I Capture the Castle, followed by Red Riding Hood in 2004, Hellraiser: Hellworld in 2005, and Tristan & Isolde in 2006. His big break came in 2007, when Cavill was offered a leading role in Showtime's television series The Tudors as Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk. The series was well-received: it was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2007 and won an Emmy in 2008. Cavill credits the show with bolstering his career: "It’s done the most for me to date. Now there's an audience somewhere in America that’s aware of who I am, I have more sell-ability, because of The Tudors." Entertainment Weekly named him the "Most Dashing Duke" and praised his work on The Tudors for displaying "charm, depth and a killer bod". In 2011 Cavill was offered the lead role as Thesus in the film Immortals alongside Michael Rourke and John Hurt. Based on elements from classical Greek myths and filmed using 3D technology. The big budget film was portrayed as a hard-core action film shot in a Renaissance painting style - Caravaggio meets Fight Club with Cavill bare-chested throughout. The style of the film certainly paid off. In its first week of release the film shot straight to #1 in the Home Entertainment list. His follow up film looks certain to offer even more action and a glimpse of that aunt physique! British Super heroes have become very popular of late with Christian Bale cast as Batman in his third and final outing, and Andrew Garfield as SpiderMan, Cavill has become the third British actor to portray an American comic book superhero. On being chosen for the role, Cavill commented, "In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honoured to be a part of his return to the big screen." In this new version of Superman, based on the DC Comics character Superman, the film tells the much-loved character's origin story. The young journalist Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) â&#x20AC;&#x201C; who came to Earth as a child from Krypton â&#x20AC;&#x201C; has trouble fitting in with his secret superpowers. Questioning his purpose in life, Kent is forced into action when it comes time to protect those in need, becoming the hero we all know as Superman, built by the values set upon him by parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) who adopted him as an otherworldly orphan. The film also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Russell Crowe as Jor-El.

Cavill was original cast as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire The role eventually went to Robert Pattinson. Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series, was outspokenly in favour of Cavill playing the character of Edward Cullen in the Twilight film, calling him her “perfect Edward” but by the time production of the film began, however, Cavill was too old to play the character so again the role went to Robert Pattinson. In 2005, Cavill was a final contender for the role of James Bond in Casino Royale. The producers and director Martin Campbell were torn between him and Daniel Craig; reportedly Campbell supported Cavill but the producers preferred an older Bond. Ultimately Craig landed the role. Cavill was actually set to play Superman in director McG’s 2004 film Superman: Flyby. Suitable for all hair types from thin to thick hair, curly to straight, and whether you're looking for short hairstyles for round faces or long faces, short haircuts are the easiest way to add instant chic to your everyday style. Short hair is so popular this year. But which of these popular cuts best suit your face shape and hair texture?

Would Short Hair Suit You ? Almost everyone can get away with a short hairstyle. Some styles work better with certain face shapes and hair textures. For example, your haircut should give you the illusion of having an oval face shape. So if you have a round face you'll want to elongate it and if you have a square face, you want to soften your jawline.

The Pixie Audrey Hepburn was the original celebrity with pixie hair and Mia Farrow popularized the look in the 60s. In the past years, pixie hair has "cropped up" on a host of stylish singers and actresses including Michelle Williams, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emma Watson, Carey Mulligan, Halle Berry and most recently Anne Hathaway. While many pixies are traditionally short all over, the modern pixie tends to be choppy and texturized with longer bangs that give you a ton of styling options. The pixie works best on women with thick, naturally wavy hair. I find the pixie doesn't work as well on fine, straight hair because the hair falls to close to the scalp, looking a bit like a helmet. If you have fine hair, you may need lots of product to add body. The pixie works best on women with heart-shaped, square and oval faces. It's a good cut for women with round faces, too, just make sure to keep the bangs long and style them forward or up to create the illusion of length.

The Modern Shag The beauty in the shag hairstyle is that it flatters all face shapes. To get that mussy, choppy look, you'll want to use a sea salt spray (try my homemade recipe) or texturizing spray and scrunch hair as it dries.

The Pompadour A hot hairstyle trend for 2013 is the pompadour, also known as the quiff or the "fauxhawkâ&#x20AC;?. This hairstyle - which usually features shaved sides and a puffy teased top that reminds me of a rooster's comb - has become the cool hairstyle of choice for singers Miley 34

Who can wear this look? Anyone with guts, really. This cut is more about attitude than your face shape, according to stylist Matt Fugate to the Glo website. This cut works best on coarse, thick hair. Fine hair will just fall flat without the help of a ton of styling product. A good stylist is adept at funky hairstyles and knows to follow the shape of your head rather than just your face shape when cutting a short, edgy style.

Super-short, edgy cuts It takes guts (or what we call "chutzpah" here in New York) to get a super-short, edgy haircut (hello Miley Cyrus!), but as you will see from this photo gallery, the results can be very, very cool - and even sophisticated. Whether you're seeking a cut that's sexy or funky or sweet, there are many, many cuts available to you. The Starlite Festival in Marbella promises to bring a sparkle to the summer with a plethora of Stars performing all in aid or charity

The Starlite Festival Marbella is a cultural and charitable event you won't want to miss this summer. A project that goes beyond the mere concept of music, conceived to become Europe’s flagship social and cultural extravaganza, takes place in Marbella over a period of 30 days from 23rd July to 24th August. Again the event will be hosted by Antonio Banderas with a top line-up of international stars all with one aim in mind “to raises money for various charities”. The outside in arrangement: This style uses glass to show off flowers as if they are in a museum case. Flowers are placed inside a vase with the tops aligned near the upper rim of the vase.

Repeating performance: This flower arrangement requires three or more of the same type of container. Each container then has one or more identical flowers, showing off the singular shape of the particular flower. Looks good on a table or a window sill. How many containers and how many flowers? Anything goes as long as it is continuous. Single colour concept: This is arrangement of flowers that uses one colour in a mix of either the same kind of flower. Usually flowers are densely packed together and often in a container.

Boxed in: Flowers tightly packed into a square or oblong shaped container is currently a very popular choice. Topsy turvy: Traditional design dictates that flowers arranged in a vase are in the following ratio: 1/3 vase and 2/3 flowers sticking out the top. This trend flips this around. In this flower arrangement the vase occupies the lower 2/3 of the arrangement and the flowers just crest over the top rim. Unearthed: One fun trend is to display bulb flowers such as tulips, hyacinths or amaryllis as complete units with the flower and stem still attached to the bulb and roots. The effect is reminiscent of historical botanical drawings. Whatever your style, the most important thing to look out for when buying flowers is to choose something you like.

PUTTING THE FUN BACK INTO GETTING FIT AND STAYING IN SHAPE This month the beach of Marbella has witnesses the arrival of a new keep ﬁt concept Beach Fit Marbella. This innovative, fun and healthy alternative to getting ﬁt has been brought to our sunny shores by Glenn Ward, born from his own personal desire to lose weight but not within the clinical, aesthetic and air

conditioned environment of the modern gym Glenn has decided to use what nature has provided for us and now aims to inspire others to follow. Spotlight Magazine met up with Glenn and Rob Edmond from “The biggest loser UK” to talk about Beach Fit Marbella.

SL: Glen, tell us what inspired you to start Beach Fit Marbella. BFM: Basically I wanted to get people out the gym and training outside, everyone can visit a gym whether it’s in London, Germany or the Italy but here on the Costa del Sol we benefit from these glorious beaches a fantastic climate but we never use them, so I decided to start Beach Fit Marbella. For anyone who has trained outside they will tell you training outside in the fresh air is so invigorating and this is what I want to promote. SL: So apart from the obvious how does training outside differ to that of a gym circuit? BFM: Being outside stimulates the senses, the fresh air, the wind, the landscape and by using the sand, slopes, steps, and benches around us all adds to create a positive feel good factor. Our first workout of the day starts at 7am and lasts for one hour so by 8am your body is buzzing with endorphins and you really feel ready for the day ahead, this is what exercising is all about. SL: Glen, this sounds great we’re in… but how do you entice people to give up their current gym. BFM: This is a hard one, nobody likes change, people that don’t exercise don’t want to exercise and people that do have a routine which they are probably stuck in. So to incentivise people until the 19th July I will be giving all the sessions away for free so that people can feel what it’s like to work out in the fresh air. Also each month we aim to have a celebrity / guest trainers come down and mix –up our sessions bringing with them their fitness experience whether it be martial arts, intensive trainer, toning etc etc and this month we have Rob Edmond, TV trainer & presenter. SL: Hi Rob, it’s a pleasure to meet you we all know you from “The biggest Loser UK” what attributes do you bring to Beach Fit Marbella. RE: Working on “The biggest Loser UK” which is probably one of the biggest boot camps in the world and one of the most famous means I can bring a lot of experience to Beach Fit Marbella. This month my role is as a guest trainer to help raise the profile of Beach Fit Marbella and get them noticed plus maybe provide a few hints and tips. I am also holding a few sessions and having 70

a military background my workouts tend to be of a more intense regime however the main thing I want to help promote is that Beach Fit Marbella is available to everybody, so even if you are new to exercise you should come along and give it a try, don’t be scared! SL: Rob, you have worked with many high profile celebrities and sportmen, can you tell us about them? RE: Well as you know I have worked with Davina McCall on “The biggest Loser” and most recently Mark Felix - Professional World Strong Man Competitor who recently just set a deadlift world record in powerlifting. SL: Rob, we hear you are currently training for the world fitness record, what does that entail? RE: Yes, I have had to put on hold because of my commitments to “The biggest Loser” but basically it is the fastest person carrying a person of equal weight on your back in a fireman’s lift for a mile. SL: Good luck with that. (rather you that me!) SL: Glen, back to Beach Fit Marbella tell us about the program.

BFM: We offer a session in the mornings every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at Sunrise from 7am – 8am, and then an evening session every Monday, Tuesday & Thursday at sunset from 8pm-9pm. We also have a Pilates class at 9am every Saturday and from the end of July we will be introducing an intensive master class at 10am. SL: How much will this cost? BFM: Monthly it costs €40.00 for unlimited sessions we also have a weekly rate which is ideal for holiday makers which costs € 15.00 per week or if you prefer to pay per session this will cost you €8.00. SL: What plans do you have for the future?

BFM: The sessions we are holding at Marbella are obviously about getting people exercising outdoors so they can reach their health and fitness goals but also it is to promote a community feeling where people can encourage other to reach levels they didn’t think you were capable of. My aim is to get a marathon team running, introduce a triathlon team and put together activity weekends. I also want to introduce a Beach Fit on the beaches of Calahonda/Elviria, San Pedro and maybe even Puerto Banús. SL: Glen, it sounds like you are on a mission to get the whole of Costa del Sol fit so I think I should head off and get some new trainers! SPOTLIGHT MAGAZINE

“The future of Aston Martin is, very clearly, more exciting now than perhaps at any time in its history” Aston Martin is celebrating its centenary in world-class style with the debut of the exceptional CC100 Speedster Concept. Created as a stunning celebration of the great British brand’s 100 years of sports car excellence the one-off CC100 looks both to the past and the DBR1 – Aston Martin’s greatest sporting triumph on the track – and to the future with its teasing glimpses of potential future design direction. Which made its debut on the world famous nurburging race course this month. The stunning CC100 Speedster Concept was accompined by 1000km race-winning

1959 DBR1 which was driven by the legendary Sir Stirling Moss. The event was an expression of the brands year long 2013 centenary clebrations. Viewed by tens of thousands of lucky spectators in Germany, the radical speedster is being driven today by Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez. He said: “CC100 is the epitome of everything that is great about Aston Martin. It represents our fantastic sporting heritage, our exceptional design capability, our superb engineering know-how and, above all, our adventurous spirit!

“I have nicknamed it ‘DBR100’ because of its affinity to the great 1959 racewinning cars and, of course, our 100-year anniversary in 2013. “But this car is more, even, than a simple ‘birthday present’ to ourselves: it shows that the soul of Aston Martin – the thing that differentiates us from all the other car makers out there – is as powerful as ever and I very much hope that everyone who catches a glimpse of it at the Nürburgring today enjoys seeing it.” Designed and constructed in fewer than six months at Aston Martin’s global headquarters in Gaydon, working with key supplier Multimatic Inc, under the leadership of Special Projects and Motorsport Director David King, the finished look of the twoseater CC100 is the work of Design Director Marek Reichman working alongside the brand’s Chief Exterior Designer Miles Nurnberger. Miles explained: “The brief was very simple, yet enormously testing: create something that reflects the 100 years of Aston Martin heritage and signals the future of the brand. “The idea of an iconic speedster concept that nods to the Le Mans − and Nürburgring – winning cars of 1959 soon came, and we have had complete freedom to shape this car.”

(including mirrors) the Speedster Concept body is a classic example of the almost infinitely flexible nature of Aston Martin’s trademark Vertical Horizontal engineering philosophy. With a body and interior crafted from carbon fibre, tooled and provided by low volume specialists Multimatic, the CC100 utilises the latest generation AM11 naturally aspirated V12 gasoline engine mated to a six-speed hydraulically actuated automated sequential manual transmission. Controlled via steering column-mounted paddle shifts the lightweight ‘box delivers truly sporting changes perfectly suited to the Speedster’s track-focused nature. The drivetrain will power the CC100 from rest to 62 mph in a little over four seconds, while the top speed is limited to 180 mph. Dr Bez added: “The future of Aston Martin is, very clearly, more exciting now than perhaps at any time in its history and I’m looking forward to seeing the excitement and anticipation that CC100 creates among Aston Martin owners and enthusiasts worldwide.”
