AMAZING ADVENTURES AT SEAWORLD PARKS By Gabriele Walkow

eaWorld Parks provide experiences that matter and inspire guests to protect animals and the wild places we share.
Since the first SeaWorld opened in 1964, its mission has been focused on education, conservation, research and entertainment. SeaWorld and Busch Gardens work hard to inspire their guests to love and protect wild animals and places. SeaWorld recently made historic decisions to make this the last generation of orca whales and end theatrical orca performances, transitioning to a more educational, documentary-style presentation. But SeaWorld will have whales in its care for many years to come, continuing to educate guests. Millions of people around the world have been made aware of the plight of marine animals in the wild because of SeaWorld, and guests to the parks will continue to see and learn about killer whales in a new way.

SEAWORLD ORLANDO
Mako, the longest, tallest and fastest coaster in Orlando, is the park’s newest attraction. Mako offers a world-class thrill ride, but also gives guests the chance to learn about important conservation issues facing sharks. The Manatee Rehabilitation Area is a new opportunity for guests to see the vital work of the SeaWorld rescue team, benefiting more than 29,000 animals over the past 50 years. Debuting this spring, Dolphin Days will immerse guests into the world of the ocean’s most playful ambassadors.
AQUATICA ORLANDO
Aquatica, SeaWorld’s Waterpark, is home to some of the world’s most thrilling water rides, featuring 42 slides, rivers and lagoons and sparkling white, sandy beaches. Ihu’s Breakaway Falls is the tallest, steepest and only multi-drop tower slide of its kind in Orlando.
BUSCH GARDENS TAMPA BAY
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is the ultimate family adventure, combining world-class thrill rides, entertainment and one of North America’s largest zoos. Cobra’s Curse is a one-of-a-kind spin coaster and complements the park’s other thrill rides, including SheiKra, Kumba and Montu, Falcon’s Fury and Cheetah Hunt. Guests can also observe and even take part in the animal care experience at the Animal Care Center. The popular 65-acre Serengeti Plain is home to exotic African animals, including giraffes, rhinos, wildebeests, antelope and ostriches.

ocated 45 minutes outside of Fort Myers, Sanibel Island is renowned for its shelly beaches and gorgeous subtropical ecosystem. Sanibel residents are so passionate about the island that over 60 percent of it is made up of wildlife preserves, including the renowned J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. At the behest of Jay Norwood Darling, the refuge was created through an executive order by President Truman, conserving the 6,400 acres of mangrove forests and marshes that provide a habitat to over 300 animal species. The land, which would have been sold to developers had it not been for the interference of its namesake, now protects endangered and threatened species, with 2,800 acres of the refuge designated by Congress as a Federal Wilderness Area.

SUSTAINABLE LIVING IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA BABCOCK RANCH IS THE WORLD’S FIRST SOLAR-POWERED COMMUNITY By Heather Turk
A
new real estate development in Southwest Florida is unlike anything the world has ever seen.
Bordered by the 73,000-acre Babcock Ranch Preserve and the 65,000-acre Cecil M. Webb Wildlife Management Area, Babcock Ranch is the world’s first town primarily powered by the sun. Hailed as the most sustainable, most innovative and health-focused new town in the country, Babcock Ranch comprises nearly 18,000 acres, making it roughly the size of Manhattan. Phase 1 development, which began opening in February, will have a total of 1,100 residences and a downtown district that’s home to a stateof-the-art wellness center, market café, lakeside restaurant, educational facilities and an outdoor outfitters. Residents and visitors alike can gear up here to explore the town’s expansive lakes and trail system. When complete, Babcock Ranch will not only have 19,500 residences and an engaging downtown area to host community concerts, farmers’ markets, festivals and art fairs, but also six million square feet of commercial and community space while still dedicating more than half of its total land for green spaces, lakes and nature trails.

region with 74.5-megawatts of clean, renewable power generated by the sunshine. The town’s potable water supply, meanwhile, comes from wells on property that draw from an aquifer and require only minimal treatment to meet drinking water standards. Located approximately 25 minutes from Punta Gorda Airport, Allegiant passengers visiting the area can discover more about Babcock Ranch in its Woodlea Hall building, home to the community’s Discovery Center. They can also rent a canoe or kayak at Curry Creek Outfitters for a day out on one of its freshwater lakes, peddle around the town on a bicycle rental or check out one of its first nature trails. Table & Tap, Babcock Ranch’s lakefront restaurant, is now open to the public, too. The 4,300-square-foot, locally sourced restaurant serves free-range, non-GMO proteins from Bonita Springs’ Circle C Farm as well as produce from Collier County’s Oakes Farms. A great place to socialize, visitors can gather around a massive oak, transported to the site from the wild, in the restaurant’s 35-seat beer garden, or sit around a fire pit on the lakefront lawn while playing giant chess and checker sets or an adult-size version of Connect Four. For over 60 years, the area has been home to the State Theatre of North Carolina, offering Broadway-quality entertainment. CARL SANDBURG HOME NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE
Downtown Hendersville’s Bearfootin’ Art Walk
Poet, historian, author and lecturer, Carl Sandburg spent the final 22 years of his remarkable life at his estate, Connemara. Guests can tour the house (circa 1838), which displays furnishings of Sandburg's residence from 19451968, including his 12,000-book library. The estate includes five miles of trails, a barn and close-up encounters of the descendants of Mrs. Sandburg's champion dairy goats.
JUMP OFF ROCK
Five miles from downtown, Jump Off Rock provides a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge and Pisgah Mountain ranges. The rock gets its name from a 300-year-old legend of a Cherokee Indian Chief and maiden who often met on this rock. When the chief was called to war, the maiden promised to wait for his return from their favorite rock ledge. When she received word of his death, she supposedly climbed to the rock and jumped off. On moonlit nights it is reported that one can see the ghost of the maiden on Jump Off Rock. Hendersonville’s 1905 copper-domed courthouse

THANK YOU ALLEGIANT
I just wanted to say that traveling with you has been wonderful for my family. If it wasn’t for your airline, we wouldn’t be able to travel, so thank you and all of your staff, they have just been wonderful as well.
– Sherri C., Cincinnati
My husband and I flew you for the first time in April from Cincinnati to Tampa / St. Pete. We were initially nervous about flying a lower cost carrier as we have historically used Delta for most all of our trips. We had a great experience and thought the flight attendants were wonderful!
– Elsie G., Hawaii
I sent an email asking for help with a rebate. On Saturday, I decided to phone Customer Care and sat patiently on the phone and eventually an Allegiant Air representative named Alison took my call. Calmly and professionally she addressed my issue and assured me that she could correct the error, which she did! The customer service she provided was outstanding and greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Since then, over 600 Wish Kids have flown on Allegiant to their wish destinations, over $400,000 in cash has been donated directly by Allegiant and over $270,000 has been donated by passengers through purchases of the Wingz Kids Snack Pack. In April 2016, Allegiant was proud to announce the expansion of its partnership with Make-A-Wish by donating office space to Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. The office space will be used as the Make-A-Wish chapter’s new headquarters, and will be located on Allegiant’s campus. The space will also be used for volunteer training, meetings and a place of support for families of children receiving wishes.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Make-A-Wish is one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories.
